is stalling the economic issues so he doesn't have to debate Obama??? Or moreover, stalling
the debate for "Thanks, but no thanks."?

1. Tomorrow is the foreign-policy debate.

3. I thought you meant he didn't want to debate the economy with Obama.

8. Well, the more I think about it - the more I think it's all about Palin
and figuring out a way that she doesn't have to debate. He is giving up his debates with
hopes she can opt in on that. He is even willing to stall on the bailout to avoid
the VP debates. The know, it's gonna be very, very ugly.

9. I think that is his ultimate goal.
The perception (for some reason) is that McCain is better on foreign policy than Obama, so he was willing to sacrifice that to save Palin.

It's like a suicidal chess move -- sacrifice the king to save the queen.

10. exactly. you know they have to be shittin bricks about the Vp
debate. I mean, you can see McCain cringe when he's standing behind her at a rally.
He's sophisticated enough to know she just can't cut it. Hell, he probably
is mad at everyone who talked him into picking her. And, maybe, just maybe, he might
feel a tad of guilt for putting her in this impossible situation? (although
she could have said no - like any rational person who knew their limitations would have done.)

4. But the format ensures a lot of latitude
Economics will work it's way in, if not but in a global context.

6. Yes, but the primary focus would be on foreign policy.

5. Of course. And just as Bill Clinton implied by what he said...
He IS afraid, he DIDN'T do this in good faith.

He's quivering in his boots that are soaked with urine from how badly he's afraid to talk with Obama on even what should be his number one issues.

(It's amazing how quickly posting a video of what Bill actually said kills so many threads, people don't like to admit they misread a headline or actually thought that Faux News would tell the truth. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b92P5mBkPSk )

Anyway, McCain is too terrified, and the majority of Americans are very, very uncomfortable with a bailout bill. So am I. He's going to stall this and then blame it on the Democrats for not passing it, or if it does pass, say "I was hesitant about this and tried to get some good provisions in there, but the Democrats wouldn't let me, and it HAD to be done..."

I don't understand why he isn't wiling to just flip the debates, and have the economic issue debate first instead of national security. He'd do better to have the NatSec debate nearer the end of the debate season anyway, it's his strongest suit and the last will have the strongest impact on the Election.

Or maybe that's exactly what he's shooting for, to just talk about the Economy only tommorow night.
