Are local media covering Kerry's campaign?
I've heard two or three times that when * speaks, the local media covers it. I'm not in a battleground/swing state, so we're not really getting the attention. So I'm wondering, if * is getting all of this free exposure locally, is Kerry getting the same? Are local media covering his speeches in total as they are with * ?

1. I'm in blue state/west coast. I see rare speeches by Kerry
I have to really hunt for anything. Bush gets most of the air time..including SBVT ads ad nauseum...but it's mostly on cable news only.

During this RNC Convention, even our local tv AND radio has been AWASH in coverage!! I think I got to see one, ONE short speech of Kerry's today.......on FOX of all places, at that foreign legion stop. I've seen little to zero Hard Dem commentary to rebut the RNC claptrap. It's aweful.

2. I live near Knoxville, TN and our local media does well.
One station had a reporter in Nashville covering Kerry's speech to the American Legion. Of course they were there for Bush too, but the fact they stayed to carry Kerry is something to take note of. Showed more of his speech than the national news.

I find my local stations have the most balanced picture of the election. One station always does a "Fact Check" type of thing when covering the candidates. Even here in Puke country I never find myself wanting throw something at the TV when it comes to Election coverage. It's refreshing.

3. I don't watch
too much TV, but that local news coverage I've seen wasn't too terrivle. It did cover Kerry's local stops.

I think one thing about local TV in general is that it is much more responsive to viewer demands and complaints. If there was too much apparent bias, they would be more flexible in responding to it.
