McCain to Americans: Let them eat cake; I'm going to a four-star restaurant
http://www.heartlessandbrainless.com/2008/09/mccain-to-americans-let-them-eat-cake.html

Politico reported (in a rather backhanded way) that McCain and Cindy dined together in a swank D.C. restaurant, while Congressional negotiators worked fervently on a bailout package.

As his colleagues worked on the deal at the Capitol Saturday night, McCain and his wife, Cindy, dined with Sen. Joe Lieberman and his wife, Hadassah, at CityZen, one of Washington's best restaurants.

Once the Huffington Post got their grubby hands on the story, it proceeded to tear McCain a new one by publishing the prices and the menu.

The six course meal costs $110, with an optional "Sommelier's Pairing" for $75.

The restaurant serves treats such as Monterey Bay Squid Ratatouille; Shaved Sashimi of Geoduck Clam; Basic Infused Lettuce; Fricassee of Summer Beans, Flageolets, and CityZen Chorizo; Fromage Blanc Soufle Glace with AN Almond Biscuit Navel Orange Salad and Orange-Licorice Emulsion.

Their point was crystal clear. The average American can't afford to eat like this.

I have to admit, its having to report this kind of gossip that turns me off of political blogging (you should see the number of hits we get because of Bristol Palin and rumors of Sarah Palin's adultry). Still, in country where there is profound and growing anxiety over the state of the economy, this story has legs -- especially since McCain made a huge showing of suspending his campaign and returning to Washington and negotiate the bailout bill.

2. And while you're at it, let's clarify that McCain's campaign never actually ceased its operations.

As Obama said this weekend, "-- not one more year of this nonsense!" All pretend for the cameras, and in reality, the most brazen hypocrisy and shamelessness.

3. McSame and his dinner
How can you repeat such an obvious lie? He is a man of the people and surely should not be denied a diner with the statesmen Joe Lieberman. After all Joe has been busy standing behind Sarah, helping her out. What has this world come to? I don't know how to do the little satire thing so don't flame me out.

4. What the hell is a Geoduck?
Is that a duck that was trying to cross the road that was hit by a Geo?

And did that foul-mouthed British guy do the cooking while cursing out the kitchen help?

6. The Geoduck is the mascot of Evergreen State University
I gather that it's some kind of weird, phallic-looking clam-like thing that lives in the waters of Puget Sound. The proper pronunciation is gooey-duck.

I'm shocked that anybody actually eats them. I thought their only function was to be kind of cute and mascot-y. But I guess the picture below does show them priced for sale.

5. I'm sure that most Americans would agree
that CityZen Chorizo and Fromage Blanc Soufle Glace are so yesterday.
