Things that make me laugh -- Biden "preparing for debates"

Joe Biden does not need to "prepare" to discuss what he has been living, eating, and breathing for three decades.

What on earth could he possibly be asked on any political subject that he'd need to study for?

1. Putin's head invading Delaware airspace.
Very complex topic when you think about it.

10. You know, that would be a great line....

While Sarah Palin has been watching to see if Putin's head is invading Alaskan airspace, in Delaware we've been watching the injured and dead arriving at Dover Air Force Base.

15. That IS good.
I suppose politesse will prevent Biden from going there, but it would be a priceless moment to watch her try to respond to that.

21. No, the real question is -
How many miles away is Sarah from reality?

5. That's like saying football players don't have to prepare...
for a game they've been playing for 2 decades.

Absolute bullshit.

That's what 3 of the top 5 college teams thought this weekend - that you win just by arriving on the field. Not true. You win by being better, and part of being better is better preparation. Even if you're playing the worst team in the league.

6. Joe is probably studying how to take down Palin without looking like a bully
If he did it right he could reduce her to a puddle while looking and sounding like a kindly uncle.

12. She's a clone of a former R Senate opponent here in DE

When the Delaware R's put up Jane Brady against him, she even went so far as to distribute an attack video to Delaware voters making a 20-minute big deal out of the Kinnock quote.

She was every bit as obnoxious and petty as Palin, and there was no question about whether Joe Biden was "ungentlemanly" in putting her away.

but she just says impossibly stupid stuff and Joe has to keep from breaking down or rolling his eyes.

8. Seriously I want him to prepare
Because I want him to completely overpower Palin in any way possible. Even if he's already gonna give her a knockout, I want him to go full power because I'm sick of the everlasting fountain of bullshit that is the McCain-Palin "No Talk Express."

Fucking destroy her, Joe!

13. We keep an eye on New Jersey here

We send out those to keep an eye on threats that might come from New Jersey because, carrot!, reporters... oh, and job creation because 1 in 5 of them doesn't have EZ-Pass and we have to collect the tolls on that bridge because it matters to people who are concerned about health care.

14. he should take this seriously
I don't know how you'd go about this BUT if I were on Palin's team I'd be studying up on Biden's area of expertise to try and find some likely subject from w/in that area, and cram as much detail as I could into Palin's skull on that issue, with the GOP's critique of the Democratic position. My goal would be for Palin to know figure or facts that Biden might not remember, and produce it during the debate while she lays into him or the Dem Party in general. With a LOT of luck they could hit some detail, even an irrelevant one that Biden doesn't remember quickly and clearly. The Republicans have a real love of making a cheesy attack on our candidates' strong suit (mocking Kerry's heroism in combat) and they seem to be able to make it work pretty damn often in our degraded public arena. With one lucky punch they could nullify all his decades of experience in the minds of the audience.

all the talking points come out together in one incoherent rambling answer to a single question.

19. I'd bet he's not working on style, not substance
He's lived style, but is a notorius run on speaker, prone to a gentle gaffe now and then. If he were mine to coach, I'd work on keeping answers short, to the point, and always turning the debate back to McCain.

"Don't take the bait and attack Palin, Joe. Attack her boss like there's no man'ana, make eye contact, but don't stare, and otherwise ignore her. She ain't in your class at all."

Joe doesn't have to cut down Palin. She's done a fine job of that herself. He just has to stand on the same floor and show America what a real statesperson sounds like.

22. Mechanics, style, learning Palin's technique, brevity, etc.
Content isn't the issue, and is seldom considered in debate scoring.
