MSNBC's Brewer cropped Bill Clinton interview omitting remarks praising Obama
And here we thought Clinton didn't want Obama to win. Perhaps we weren't seeing the ENTIRE conversation but just the 'bits & pieces' to help stir up a shitstorm amongst liberals.

MSNBC's Brewer cropped Bill Clinton interview omitting remarks praising Obama
Summary: On MSNBC Live, Contessa Brewer asserted that President Clinton "seemed to give" Sen. Barack Obama "a half-hearted endorsement" during an interview broadcast on NBC's Meet the Press. She then aired a heavily cropped version of Clinton's remarks, falsely suggesting that Clinton had not said he "admires" Obama and omitting his statement that Obama's "greatness will ... become apparent" when he is elected.

<<<<snip>>>>>

But in remarks MSNBC did not air during the segment, Clinton also said, "I am developing a really good relationship with Senator Obama and I certainly admire him." Clinton also stated of Obama: "When he becomes president, he'll be doing things for the American people and for the world and he is -- and the greatness will then become apparent because of the good he'll do. And I think that's what I very much believe is going to happen."

Additionally, the MSNBC video clip misleadingly cropped Clinton's statement, "Hillary's the one who told me to go help him. She said, 'This guy's got real skills.' " Omitting what Clinton had said just before, the clip as cropped falsely suggested that Clinton said he was going to "go help" Obama's presidential campaign only at Sen. Hillary Clinton's request. But Clinton was in fact referring to his appearance at a fundraiser for Obama's Senate campaign in 2004. In response to Brokaw's statement, "You had never talked to him before that meeting," between Clinton and Obama on September 11, Clinton said: "Oh, I'd talked to him, but always in passing. I did a fundraiser for him when he ran for the Senate in 2004. I saw him briefly at Senator Kennedy's 75th birthday party. I had always, you know, I was -- Hillary's the one who told me to go help him. She said, 'This guy's got real skills. He's got almost unlimited potential.' And I -- she -- so I did and I've always thought he was a really commanding presence."

2. Thank God for media matters
I believe Clinton does want Obama to win. Namely because if he doesn't he will be (rightly or wrongly) blamed for the loss, which could hurt Hillary in 2012 with Obama voters in the primary.

And Hillary can still run in 2016. She'd only be 68, and for a woman that is not as old as a man's 68.

8. That's not really surprising.
There's obviously an intent by many to keep that division going, which is why I wish the people on both sides who feel strongly about this issue would step back and see how they're both being used. Most on both sides get that, thankfully. But they are still some who see anything Clinton does as bad, and some who see everything he does as right.

And they're both wrong. :)

I wish people would get off the Janet Parshall bullshit whenever someone tells them the media is not their friend, but I know it's just too much fun to rehash the primaries, especially when you are implicitly allowed to do so.

9. It is so depressing how far the corporate media will go to promote Republican interests.
Even to the extent of clipping out Clinton praise of Obama. They really do want to discourage Democrats. Sad to see that even this kind of thing is done.

15. Wow, journalists cut down interviews to the most inflammatory segments?
This is something entirely new and unexpected. Bill Clinton was obviously blindsided by this. How could he have known that MSNBC might have cut out his tepid, rambling pro-Obama statements, having kept in his punchy pro-McCain statements?

19. I don't either
I mean if we found out that that segments were clipped that had Clinton Bashing Obama, people would be all over this like flies on shit. But god forbid we find out that the media was manipulating the interview to make us think Bill didn't care and 'ho-hum who cares'

I'll keep bumping this and everytime I see another Clinton bash I'll bump this again.

22. What really bugs me is what else out there was edited?
I mean we know that CBS/ABC hit parts of their interview with McCain and Palin to make then seem more likeable/knowledgeable. How many others were removing parts of Clinton's speech where he was praising Obama.

We just don't know so why should we continue worrying about what Clinton says?

23. Just one question...
is B Clinton not aware this is happening?

I'm sure, it's NO surprise to any of us..who controls the media, and we all know WHO they're pushing...but it gets discouraging to have it appear that Bill just doesn't quite get behind Obama, on a regular basis...with last week being especially bad...

I guarantee you, that if I were an ex-pres., who's comments were being taken out of context every time I opened my mouth...I'd not only be bringing attention to it, I'd be raising hell, and demanding that it stop....It hurts him and Hillary every bit as bad as it hurts Obama...maybe moreso...

I can apologize if I wrongfully felt Clinton was being an ass...but...I also feel Clinton could take the press to task for misquoting him...wb

24. Where have you guys been?
Clinton has said in several other interviews that he is trying to reach the middle, the fence sitters. The people who already don't like McPalin and the left are already going to vote for Obama. There is a method to his madness.
I personally have my own issues with him and his wife. That have nothing to do with the primary or election. They are based on their political record and associations that date back to their college days. I am not one for believing a leopard changes stripes.
Now as for MSNBC Keith and Rachel do not qualify them as a liberal news outlet. They are worse than CNN when it comes to bashing Obama and being right leaning. Look at Media Matters review of how they covered the Democratic Convention and their amount of negative Obama coverage.
I stopped watching them with the exception of Keith and Rachael.
The only way they will get the message is if their ratings fall. It is the classic bait and switch. Fox has lost all creditability except with the far right. Now MSNBC has picked up the banner. In my personal opinion they lost their balance when Tim passed. I don't think the Obama camp text to watch the debate on CNN was an accident. CNN called it a tie immediately, MSNBC gave it to McCain.
I am just saying THINK ABOUT IT!
