McCain blames Obama for bailout defeat - ridiculous statement from McCain camp
Edited on Mon Sep-29-08 05:14 PM by oberliner
Here is the text of the statement:

“From the minute John McCain suspended his campaign and arrived in Washington to address this crisis, he was attacked by the Democratic leadership: Senators Obama and Reid, Speaker Pelosi and others. Their partisan attacks were an effort to gain political advantage during a national economic crisis. By doing so, they put at risk the homes, livelihoods and savings of millions of American families.

“Barack Obama failed to lead, phoned it in, attacked John McCain, and refused to even say if he supported the final bill.

“Just before the vote, when the outcome was still in doubt, Speaker Pelosi gave a strongly worded partisan speech and poisoned the outcome.

“This bill failed because Barack Obama and the Democrats put politics ahead of country.” — McCain-Palin senior policy adviser Doug Holtz-Eakin

1. So how do we push back?
Last time I checked I saw BOTH Barack and McCain sitting at that table in the White House... Phone it in? Hogwash - I saw plenty of clips of McCain walking around with a phone to HIS ear... What a pack of lies.

Still - unless we start pushing back HARD - this will be the version of reality that everyone thinks they remember.

How do we effectively PUSH BACK against this BS?

2. Are people starting to get it?
Do you think McCain will be able to spin this in his favor somehow or do you think most people view his recent actions as the ridiculous shenanigans that they were?

8. No way. I honestly think the vast majority are awake to his BS.
Very early on he painted himself in a corner with all his bullshit and now most people don't believe a word he says.

3. He didn't suspend his campaign
The fact that he didn't suspend his campaign--a lie--makes the rest of this statement total fiction.

9. McCain wasn't able to get more than 30% of HIS party to vote for the bill.
Pelosi delivered the number of votes that she said she could get. The Republicans did not.

McCain is so desperate he will say anything, do anything to win.

12. That is the reality of the situation.
This is a Republican President. A Republican economic mess up and the Republican Party have had to come begging to a Democratic congress to bail out them and the economy. This is their mess, they need to hold it, they need to pass this legislation, yes with Democratic help, but not without them.
