Um, cause-ING. Present tense. It's still happening! It's still getting worse! It matters what caus-ES it, because you can't do anything about it without knowing what you're working against. If nobody feels the negative effects more than Alaska, wouldn't she want to find out how to combat it before it gets worse?

Sadly, in her mind, it's probably just a matter of how her precious Alaska can harness global warming's side effects to make money.

She is truly unbelievable.
