Poll question: Is this a good week or a bad week?
I've spent the last five days in beautiful Provincetown, Massachusetts, and didn't even pick up a newspaper or watch a minute of TV for fear of glimpsing the Republican Namecalling Conflagration. Now that I'm home, I'm reluctant to subject myself to the sewage that passes for news coverage these days. So I'd be grateful if you'd share your assessment of where we stand now.

1. Zell Miller may have ruined any potential bounce.

3. You forgot one important choice
This week has been a GIFT to us! The GOP has tried to portray itself as moderate, yet putting wild-eyed crazy people on the podium, tittering twins who mirror their father's maturity level, nutcases like Keyes giving us one soundbite after the next, Klan-like rally chants from the floor, delegates stiffing the homeless by blowing off their photo ops in favor of shopping at Saks..... I could not have hoped for more. This convention shows the country what an extreme bunch this is.

11. Tee-hee-hee... you're right!
It's like one huge negative ad they've run... against themselves!

:D

4. I have to say, this was a poor week for the RNC to hold a convention
The last week of August is a major vacation week. People are more likely to tune it out.

5. It's certainly been maddening to watch

Being on vacation would have been the right choice.

I think it will NOT result in any bounce for the repukes.
At best it won't backfire on them. At best.

Your blood pressure is probably much better than those of us
who watched it. OTOH, the protests have been AWESOME! Too bad
they don't get much airtime.

6. A GREAT GREAT WEEK....
Edited on Thu Sep-02-04 05:02 PM by MrBenchley
Michael Moore smiling and calling Bush a loser was the "highlight" from the first night....the delegates at large insulted wounded veterans everywhere....Ahnuld insulted the unemployed as "girlymen" and talked about what a great president Nixon was....the Twins showed up drunk and babbled gibberish...Dick Cheney shunned his gay daughter publicly....and Zell Miller went nuts in public and challenged Chris Matthews to a duel....

And the GOP still has to sweat its way through Junior Birdman's speech....

7. Said it before, and I'll say it again...
the GOP and RNC can preach all they want about compassion and unity and such...but get a mike in front of 'em, and they turn rabid.

Give 'em enough rope, and they'll hang themselves.

12. I went to a karaoke bar while on vacation...
... one excruciatingly, mind-numbingly frightening performance after another.

Does that count as partial credit toward sitting through the RNC?

:D

9. It's done the whole spectrum: good, bad, ugly, weird, surreal...
Right now I'd say it's hovering somewhere between "strange" and "twisted".
