3. Honestly, that's a terrible number for McCain.
He should be up 58-38

2. Obama gained 8-points since previous poll (McCain gained 5) maybe
McCain will have to spend some money in his home state.

4. Wow, that's really damn close for the Republican candidate's home state....
Meanwhile, Obama is currently winning Illinois by 16 and Hawaii by 33.

24. Wow, he's STILL not leading by double digits? In a state he's 'represented' for like 26 years?
Of course, I'm an Arizonan and I can attest that he hasn't done much to deserve our loyalty. Hell, he's hardly ever here? I'm not 100% sure about this, but I heard he hasn't even been to my area (Tucson) since 1997! And judging from the lack of McCain advertising and the surge of that of Obama's I've seen here in the past few weeks, it's looking like he's just taking it for granted, quite possibly to his peril..

I'll be happy if we keep it close here, but if we take it...wow. I will be soo fucking proud of my state. :D *hopes*

7. So Obama's winning Florida by more than McCain's winning Arizona.
I say that puts Arizona in contested territory.

9. Wowowow. My district chair said that AZ was winnable at the debate Thursday and I suppressed a laugh
I take it back--and pledge another hour of door-knocking on Saturday even if it is 100 degrees.

Our own senator <50%? !SI, SE PUEDE!

11. It's tough to take somebody's home state, even Mondale carried Minnesota in the Reagan landslide
the only state he won besides DC.

13. Thanks for that door knocking, blonde!
mccain is performing so poorly that even people who've voted for mccain in the past must be doing some hard thinking.

15. I've encountered some independents that are. The feeling is he can't do much
damage in the Senate, but as president he gives people some serious chills.

21. Feelings right on.
mccain will be regaled to Senator from Arizona unless some enterprising politician wants to challenge him in the next election..they'd have a wealth of ammunition all coming from mccain's mouth.

With all the northeasterners that have moved there, how can it still be a red state?

Does something to their brains. This is a state that elected Evan Mecham, the guy was not only a racist, but a buffoon.

28. Large Mormon population. Lots of retirees. Lots of rural voters.
And re Mecham, he won in an election in which he was one of three candidates; the other two split the "reasonable vote". And he was impeached, not really for any wrongdoing, but rather an acknowledgement by the public that he was a complete embarrassment to the state and unfit to be our governor.

14. We are geopgraphically huge and rural. Only the cities are
getting the influx of newbies.

The rural areas are still very much Goldwater country.

25. Arizona
If Mccain wasn't from there Arizona would likely be a battleground.Even so Obama Is killing him In
Hawaii, and Illinois yet A local Arizona poll has Mccain with just 7 over Obama. That Is telling
about Mccain In Itself.

26. As an AZ native--AZ would likely be a republican lock without McCain..
We went for Clinton in 1992 but not in '96 but this is a deep red state with pockets of blue.

However, Maricopa Cty (the largest and home to Phoenix) has rapidly changing demographics. Nonetheless, this should be an easy red win--but this year, the RNC is going to have to work at it.

I hate to Insult you but Clinton lost In 92(Possabily because of Perot) But won In 96.

Besides that I will take your word for the rest.
