----Palin---another NON answer!!!----Gads! Does this woman know ANYTHING??!!--
Edited on Wed Oct-01-08 06:02 PM by 1corona4u
From tonight;

Couric: What other Supreme Court decisions do you disagree with?

Palin: Well, let's see. There's, of course in the great history of America there have been rulings, that's never going to be absolute consensus by every American. And there are those issues, again, like Roe v. Wade, where I believe are best held on a state level and addressed there. So you know, going through the history of America, there would be others but …

Couric: Can you think of any?

Palin: Well, I could think of … any again, that could be best dealt with on a more local level. Maybe I would take issue with. But, you know, as mayor, and then as governor and even as a vice president, if I'm so privileged to serve, wouldn't be in a position of changing those things but in supporting the law of the land as it reads today.

1. Boy, I'll tell ya...if she turns out to be brilliant and well-versed
then McCain will have been successful in pulling off the biggest electoral prank in history.

My money's on the fact that she's a bumbling fool who can't talk her way out of a paper bag and made it to the top of Alaska politics because people were too busy staring at her ass to pay attention.

21. I was considering that angle.
But in the end, why in the world would you risk something like that? I mean polls have a cumulative affect. If you are trying to pull off a prank in which you make your VP seem like THE most ignorant and vapid national candidate in the history of the US and then turn around and say HEY just kidding folks, see? She's actually SMART and KNOWS STUFF! Why would you even want to do that?

By the time you did your big reveal the meme of her being stupid would already be truth. That's playing with fire to play with public opinion in a general election season with a presidential ticket.

So really, I think you're right--she really IS this stupid.

33. Seriously!
I mean, I would be more inclined to believe she was some sort of idiot savant if she had stepped in it with Charlie Gibson but then improved markedly while talking with Katie Couric. But she blew the Couric interview a thousand times worse than the one with Gibson.

Why, why, why would you show her regressing if she was getting better and the meme was that she's a fucking moron? You'd want to change that, wouldn't you? Strike fear into the hearts of Democrats, breathe new life into your campaign, etc.

7. She can't pull out a single SCOTUS ruling?
Like, say... Bush v. Gore?

Brown v. Board of Education?

Granted, I'm a lawyer, but jeez lady. I'm not running for VP.

I agree with the above poster--this may be the greatest con ever perpetrated. However, I kinda doubt it. The debate will be something to witness, if that darned Gwen Ifill can stop being a partisan!!11one!

19. I'd accept her not knowing Marbury v Madison if she'd just unscramble those subjects & predicates
Subject, verb, direct object, period, then pause before starting a new sentence. I don't think that's that hard. She has the Republican disease. When she doesn't know something... she talks more. Aarrgh!!

It's sometimes seen in stroke victims or schizophrenics.

27. And thank you Katie Couric for stretching it out over many nights.
Palin gives so few interviews and answers so few questions that by breaking it up into segments Couric is keeping her in the spotlight she would have otherwise avoided.

35. Marbury v. Madison, DC v. Heller, Griswold v. Connecticut (that right to privacy
that Palin was waffling on about)

And if Biden wanted to be really cheeky, he could have said, when they asked him which Supreme Court decisions he disagreed with, "Bush v. Gore."

41. to be fair (?) to Palin
Couric did ask her to name a Supreme Court decision she disagreed with. Maybe she thinks they've all been good ones, although I'd think Dred Scott v. Sandford would be an easy choice (unless she really thinks slavery should be a state's rights issue, which given her muddled reasoning may not be that far-fetched, although I think Taney's decision actually weakened State's Rights and I'm confused. See what just thinking about her does?)

I don't even insist on her knowing the names of the cases: she could have mentioned the recent ruling in favor of Exxon in the 1989 oil spill, which as governor of Alaska she said was a bad decision - less than 4 months ago.

My own choices for court rulings I think were wrong? Bush v. Gore and Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific.

42. Agreed as a right winger with all her states rights opinions
(probable) she should know the names of cases that interfered with states rights.

She should also be able to name the decisions about interstate commerce. Conservatives think that has been interpreted too broadly and her comment about the states deciding reflects that. So she should know of those decisions. She may not be a lawyer, but you'd think she'd know which decisions were "wrong" in her opinion - those that declared a particular power to be within the federal government's domain.

Court rulings in tomorrow's debate? I am thinking back to her convention speech when she rattled off that list of world leaders in relation to energy, as if they were names and issues she dealt with everyday. Obviously coached.

I think the Alaskan people should recall her. She is clearly not qualified to be governor.

In fact, I doubt she could pass a US citizenship test.

44. What grabs you the incoherence, the lying, the evasion, or the stunning lack of knowledge?
Maybe its the defiant and willful ignorance? The naked ambition? The smearing nastiness served with a smile? The ability to yammer through the same bullshit millions of times in a row? The way she handles a set of note cards to power her amazing repetition.

The skanky flirting? Just knowing she kills animals for fun? The warm reassurance that if your father raped your little girl that Sarah would make her to keep her baby?
