Case in point, the whole bailout debacle.
The campaign wants, not very credibly, to try and claim credit for him for anything good that happens, and blame Obama for anything bad that happens.
But he doesn't seem to put forth even minimal effort to support even false impressions like this.
All he does is SAY "I made this happen" or "it's Obama's fault this didn't happen." After the debate, he could have at least made a big show of being in a bunch of meetings with members of BOTH parties of Congress, which would at least produce a lot of photos that could be shown on the news or in ads. Lord knows he counts on most voters not reading any news - I understand that he has ads out flat out lying and saying Obama was completely silent during the Bush White House "summit" with both candidates and party leaders?
But he could have at least put the effort to create those visuals. But after getting served so badly in the meeting, having to "blink" and attend the debate, and losing that too, it seems like he has just lost his taste for the game, and is content to just let his campaign generate talking points for him to say, in between having to defend his ridiculous VP choice.
It just feels like he realizes he has not much real chance of winning and is not really up to even putting on appearances of playing hard anymore.
