Looking for opinions on this: What if Obama volunteers stood near polling places (the legal dis-
tance of course) with a sign that said,

Vote Like You Earn Under $250,000 A Year

Vote Obama Biden

(Okay, grammatically, I think that should be "as though you earn under $250,000 a year" but I prefer the grammatically inferior wording for this purpose.)

Do you think a sign like that might make someone intending to vote for McCain maybe stop and think before voting?

2. In Florida nobody can campaign within 100 ft of the polling place. It will be marked with signs.
The distance differs with state.

10. That's why the thread header says "the legal distance, of course.." 100 ft from the actual
voting is not much anyway, and there are always signs outside where I vote. The only issue is what they will say, not whether or not they will be there.

4. I think it's a terrible idea.
Plus, who changes their mind on who to vote for, on the way there? It wouldn't work anyway.

9. There are signs whenever I go to vote--again, at the legal distance. The only issue is what the
signs will say, not whether signs will be there or not. They are always there.

I should specify that people where I live walk to their polling places.

5. No--quite the reverse
McCain's lying about Obama, saying he'll raise taxes.

A better sign would be, "Vote as if our nation CANNOT take 4 more years of failed policies!"

I'd also like, "Vote for the guy who DIDN'T call his wife a cunt," but you could get into trouble over that one.

11. The reverse of what? The whole point of the sign language I suggested is that people making under
$250K a year do better under Obama's tax plan. I saw no one on this thread claim that Obama will raise taxes.

12. If you have an Obama office near you...
Edited on Thu Oct-02-08 06:36 AM by RichGirl
...I'm sure they are looking for poll greeters. This means that you set up a table within the legal distance from the door and you offer voters information, pamplets, etc. You have signs around your table. The one you suggested sounds good. You can do this on your own, have your sign and be willing to answer questions, smile and be friendly and approachable. Also, if you are in an area that is mostly democrats, and there are long lines, have some bags of candy (halloween perfect) to hand out to keep up people's energy. Especially if they are coming after work and might be hungry.

IMPORTANT: If people are wearing campaign gear, tell them to remove it, or shirt can be put on backwards. They are expecting a huge turnout so it's important for everything to run smoothly. If the workers inside the polls have to tell people to remove their gear, it will only slow things down.

13. I intend to carry a sign outside the polling place--at the legal distance, of course. I vote at an
apartment building where a long-ish corridor is between the door to the building and the room where the voting takes place. So, people with partisan signs can stand outside, fairly close to the building's main entrance. That is where I intend to plant myself with a sign and my friendliest smile.

15. Not in the top 1% of the wealthy? Vote Obama for your tax cuts.
Edited on Thu Oct-02-08 06:50 AM by Essene
If anybody approached, you just repeat that most americans will get a bigger tax cut from Obama than Mccain.

You point out the hypocrisy of the GOP's record over the last 8 years, and how they have increased government and increased spending to record levels.

The end.
