McCain campaign says it must win Pennsylvania, Minnesota or Wisconsin ... link
Edited on Thu Oct-02-08 04:12 PM by Alhena
This is assuming they win VA, FL and NC. This is opening them up to questions about not choosing MN governor Pawlenty as his running mate.

4. McCain is going to PA
According to MSNBC, McCain is leaving Michigan and concentrating on winning PA. Based on the polls I have seen, that may be a very long shot for McCain.

9. Let's kick him out of PA, too
Concentrate on winning PA, McGrumpy? Do you think Pennsylvanians were born yesterday just because you surround yourselves with ignoramusus out west? You think you'll win PA--with Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and the solid blue Eastern PA? In your dreams!

13. Is there any chance that these redeployments are to help down-ticket races?
I doubt it. Basically McCain is a prick (or as he likes to call it, "Maverick"), so I doubt he would help anybody. Moreover, at this stage, I'm not sure anybody down-ticket would want to be within a1000 miles of either Bush or McCain.

I'm just trying to see if there is any scenario that could possible make sense. You can't pull out of Michigan and Wisconsin and win teh election unless you think you can make a 15-point comeback in PA. But if you could make that kind of a comeback in PA, why wouldn't you stay to fight it out in MI and WI where things are closer.

My guess is that a lot of this is driven by the national committee deciding to cut bait. McCain has probably pretty well spend all of his federal funds, so he's really dependent on the party money. And it they are looking at McCain (did I mention that the guy has always been a real dick to people on both sides of the aisle) going up in flames, maybe they are making some choices to put their remaining money in down-ticket candidates they think can win.

Just a theory.

Unless Palin becomes a completely different person and suddenly -- uh, actually KNOWS something -- this campaign is going to be over tonight. I predict the rates will be fleeing the ship in mass tomorrow morning.

Did I mention that McCain is a first rate jerk. He and Joementum can enjoy each others' company the rest of their miserable careers because nobody else will want to be around either one of them. Talk abut toxic waste.

5. That's a bit of a long shot then
I don't think he'll win any of those at this point - not with the economy the way it is now.

10. Not to mention, it would be cool to have Obama surrogates, John and Teresa Kerry campaigning there
(especially in Pittsburgh) in addition to Casey and Rendell.

12. Obama is not advertising in Minnesota, but McCain is, and even with McCain's
bizarre ads in full saturation, Obama is still ahead. Minnesota says "no" to McCain. :bounce:

17. Three Words: Shoulda Picked Romney
He's got his own money. Son of the former Governor of MI. Helps also in Colo and Nevada because of the large number of Mormons. Finally, his business acumen would have been ideal throughout this crisis.
