According to the Tax Foundation report here - click over to page 2 for Alaska.
http://www.taxfoundation.org/research/show/22685.html

The chart above lists monies received from 1981 - 2005 for each state.
Here's the general site with more topics. http://www.taxfoundation.org/research/topic/92.html

The reason I bring this up is because earlier I listened to an interview with an Alaskan on WCPT, the liberal radio station in Chicago. The man being interviewed said he resented people in the Lower 48 when they question Palin's keeping the money that would have been for "the bridge to nowhere".

Colorado, where I live, hasn't gotten back it's full dollar in many years. I don't mind when Mississippi or other states in deep need get more than they pay in. It's our collective obligation. But it chapped me off when I heard him assert that we shouldn't have an opinion about what Alaska does because it's Federal money. WTF?

1. Interesting. They went from #1 in federal giving AND receiving in1981
to #18 in giving and #1 in receiving in 2005. Hmmm.

3. All, repeat after me. There is no such thing as Federal Money
The Goverment has only taxpayers money. It is this lack of understanding
that drives crazy comments. Ask people if they like an idea. Very Enthusiastically they will say yes. Ask them will they be willing to
pay more taxes. They will say --Let the Government pay for it.
Our country needs to educate the populace. Some are just waking up
to the fact that the Middle Class taxpayers are paying for the war
and sending their kids to fight it. The UpperClasses got a taxcut.

4. Right.
He was acting like we had no right to say anything - as if we didn't contribute. I guess he forgot how well Senator Stevens took care of them.
