Would this be a fair assesment?
Democrats are more educated, keep up with world affairs more, and overall more decent people.

Republics don't achieve higher education in bigger numbers, don't watch the news as much, usually rednecks, and tend to care about taxes, guns, and gays more than the normal.

1. No that wouldn't be a fair assessment
Not all Repugs are rednecks, that don't have a lower education per se but their world view is stunted by Faux news as their only news source.

They don't all care about taxes, guns and gays more than normal. Some Repugs could care less about gays and guns. You're referring to only a small portion of the Repug bloc when you talk about gays, guns and taxes. I'd venture a guess that those you refer to as rednecks care more about gays and guns than taxes. There's a good portion of Repugs that only vote as repugs because of single issues like God or abortion.

2. No.
The GOP is viewed as those that "don't achieve higher education in bigger numbers, don't watch the news as much, usually rednecks, and tend to care about taxes, guns, and gays more than the normal" because the Republicans that fit this category tend to be the most vocal. The problem is that the Republicans that ARE educated and rational aren't given the air time that the Hannitys and O'Reillys are.

3. nope that's a stereotype
and we better hope more than just college graduates are voting for our side this time because

" About 3-in-10 young adults, ages 25 to 29 in 2002, had completed a
bachelor's degree, matching the 2000 record high."

4. No. But I say that not for the same reasons as replies 1 & 2.
My short-version take on this is that the GOP was a different animal before the "moral majority" and Newt Gingrich's "contract with america" b.s.

That brought the christian right into the fold by playing to their fears of the "evils" of the changing world. But they, christian right, were/are only "tools" to advance the agendas of the Big Money, Big Business repugs. The party tosses them a bone now and then to keep them faithful to "the cause".

Look at W. During his first campaign, we heard a lot of "born again" blahblahblah, but what since? When he had a repug congress, he didn't take advantage to truly advance the r.w. social issues. Instead, he carved away at our Constitution and advanced an economic policy that played more to Big Business, Big Money than to the christian right who supported him and his congress.

With that said, I have to wonder about the intelligence level of any group that doesn't seem capable of deep thought or of realizing that they are being duped.

6. That's stupid
Let's not reduce legitimate ideological differences to intellectually lazy and insulting stereotypes. It does nobody any good.
