Can Falwell's University Tip Virginia To McCain?
On Sept. 10, Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr. delivered a high-minded message to the students at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. The son of the late evangelical leader spoke of the students' civic responsibility to vote. Then he made an announcement.

"We are planning to cancel classes on Election Day," he said, his voice instantly drowned out by wild cheering. "Now I know what you care about," he observed, laughing.

It's part of a grand strategy to get Liberty's more than 10,000 students to vote in Virginia. The university will bus students to the polls, stage an all-day concert complete with food, and lift curfew so they can watch the results on a giant-screen TV.

8. That's what I'm hoping!
I was an Arlington/Alexandria voter at one time, but now my vote is in NC. I would be freakin' ecstatic if either went blue, but both? Wow.

4. 10,000?
Don't think so.

added to the rolls during the general election period, for a total of 305,000 new voters since the start of the year. And a few days still remain before the Oct. 6 registration deadline.

The Obama campaign has been estimating that 80 percent of the new voters are Obama supporters, and that they'll turn out at a rate of about 75 percent, which the campaign predicts could mean about a 1.75 percent boost on Election Day.

and these sheltered kids still have curfew rules. Will they have a bus for the boys and a bus for the girls? :eyes:

6. They city of Lynchburg votes Dem but the surrounding area is Repub
This sounds more like making plausible those mystery voters that always pop up in the Shenandoah Valley as well as in areas like Lynchburg.

9. I think the hatemongers at that school would be shocked to see how they REALLY vote.
Trust me.. I've been seeing so many of the good little christian young adults around me suddenly coming out for Obama.

Makes me ill to see that school wasting their $$ that way.
