What's worse? Sitting on some charitable boards with a Distuished Professor of Education at University of Chicago, or sleeping with someone who wants Alaska to secede.

What'
Obama-Ayers

Let's review Ayer's broke into the Pentagon at night in 1972 and blew up a commode with a small bomb as a protest against a war that killed at least 55,000 people. No one was hurt by the bomb. He 27 at the time. Ayers was also involved in two earlier bombings in which no one was hurt.

Although he admits have done these things, he was never prosecuted because of government misconduct in his case. Had he been prosecuted and convicted, he would probably have long since served his sentence and been released.

Since that time, he has lived what seems to be an exemplary life, starting with raising the children of the Weather Underground who were killed in Greenwich Village while trying to make a bomb and, alone or with his wife, starting and participating in many charities. He wrote a letter of apology to someone who got hurt in a demonstration in which he was involved. He convinced his wife that they should turn themselves in, although she resisted that for many years.

He also became a Distinguished Professor of Education at the University of Chicago, one of the most prestigious universities in the nation. He has written education text books that are widely used. Etc. We've never heard of even a DUI or speeding since 1972. Despite 35 years of good works, apparently there is no way Ayers can ever redeem himself in the eyes of people who may have done a lot less good for people in the last 35 years than Ayers has. Aside from having been professors together at UChi and having sat on some charitable boards together, the Ayers and the Obamas do not seem to have much of a relationship.

Now, let's look at Palin Palin.

A TV "journalist" asked McCain what Sarah Palin knew about national security. His reply was that she knew about energy. So, energy is a national security issue. Alaska, which the United States bought and paid for years ago, has a lot of energy resources, including oil. Todd Palin spent five of seven years as a member of a political party that thinks Alaska should secede from the United States, taking its oil with it, of course. By McCain's standards, this is a current national security threat. Comes pretty close to treason, too, far as I can tell. And Sarah Palin's relationship with Todd Palin is a lot closer than Obama's relationship with Ayers.

So, Sarah, Obama's political career was kicked off by a tea at Ayers home? Well, McCain's political career was kicked off by Hensley mob money and Charles Keating money.

Do Republicans have double standards, or what?
