Governor Palin: WHO associates with terrorists?
You seem to play that card very conveniently when you
wanna pull the strings of the 'evangelical'right.

(although, in my book, that word 'evangelical has been co-opted
by narrow minded bigots but I digress)..

Yes, Governor, you love to strut your 'christian' bona-fides
(you do know what that means, doncha?),
you love to talk about your 'values,' and how 'pro-life' you are.

But you don't know squat, kiddo.

You're not a 'christian.' You're a Pharisee.
You do know what that means... after all, if you such a
'faith-based' woman, you should know your Bible.

A Pharisee was a religious leader who knew every detail
about the Law, the Torah, especially those parts about
being rigid, literal and pointing-fingers-at-others.

If you really listened to the words and life of Jesus,
you'd know that Jesus was the example of progressive:
Jesus preached and showed this life is all about feeding
the hungry, healing the ill, and taking care of the poor.
(If you doubt me, read Matthew 25: 31-46)

Jesus showed, through his choice of disciples, that
contrary to Jewish Law, we are NOT to despise those who are
different, but embrace them. Jesus' disciples and friends
included the lowly, including tax collectors (the hated IRS),
outsiders, the diseased, prostitutes, and my personal
favorite, Jesus chose those hated and feared Terrorists
to be his closest associates.

Terrorists you say? Simon the Zealot, who was a disciple,
was a Zealot, a militant party that opposed the Jewish
collaboration with the Roman Occupation of Israel.
Zealots practiced early guerilla warfare on the streets,
stabbing the guards, and the wealthy influentials
who oppressed the nation.

So... dear governor, the man you purport to dedicate
your life, Jesus, chose to consort with those..
very much like a man Senator Obama consorted with...
Yes, dear girl, William Ayers, now an influential
educator and reformer (oops! Is that YOUR word?) was
a militant in his youth, like many of us.
(and we are proud of it! So slam us all!)

Do I hear you smearing Jesus?
Do I hear you saying Jesus was not a good man?
Someone who is not trustworthy?
Someone NOT worthy to be a leader because of
his associations?

You need to get your priorities straight, young lady,
and do a whole lot more work with your book learning,
with your Bible learning,
and with your life, before you can judge others,
and before you can declare yourself worthy of
leading this nation.

I'm just sayin'...

4. Hypocrites is what I call them
They call themselves Christian, and never listen to one word Jesus had to say!!
Love thy neighbor as thy self.

Love others that aren't like you, like in the parable of the Good Samaritan in LUKE .

The Jews didn't like the Samaritans at all!!

The parable
The parable is found in the Gospel of Luke, chapter 10, verses 25–37.

On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. "Teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?" "What is written in the Law?" he replied. "How do you read it?" He answered: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" "You have answered correctly," Jesus replied. "Do this and you will live." But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" In reply Jesus said: (the parable starts here) "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. 'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.' "Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?" The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him." Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise."

2. Meh...
She's as christian as anybody.

There are good people who call themselves 'christians,' but they would be good people with or without religion.

There are sanctimonious assholes who call themselves 'christians,' but they would be assholes with or without religion.

Unfounded beliefs in invisible beings and messianic god-men is just so much window dressing.

3. I disagree, Southie...
Many progressive Christians put their money where
the mouth is...

Jim Wallis to name one.
Progressive Christians to take seriously the call to
justice.

Problem is: those aren't the ones out parading their 'values,'
and slamming others.

It has little to do with messianic 'god men' and everything to
do with progessive values of peace, justice, and equality.

Sadly, the so-called 'christian' right wingers have
painted the christian movement as stupid and narrow.

People like Palin are not the face of christ.

5. A favorite quote...
“With or without religion you’d have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, it takes religion.”

Steven Weinberg
Nobel prize winning physicist
