Edited on Mon Oct-06-08 10:52 AM by Maraya1969
all you can hear is her saying "Can I call you Joe and several "Thank yous" You can't hear Biden say anything and I'm sure he thanked there and wished he well, (something like that)

Here is the tape. It happens in the first couple minutes.

Edit: Forgot the tape

1. Nope. If she had a wire.. she would have answered much better..
she wouldn't have screwed up names.. and she would have had more specifics and more statistics.

She didn't.. no one could have scripted her Palin-Speak.. talking herself in circles about nothing in particular.

What she did in last weeks debate is EXACTLY what she did in the '06 Gov. debate in Alaska.. which is not answer the questions, deflect and talk about something else.. and pander to voters by smiling, making jabs, and winking.

Worked then..and seemed to work (to some extent) this time as well. It wasn't scripted.. they knew better. If she all of a sudden came out and looked "to perfect" that would have been more obvious then anything.

2. That's silly. Why would she need an earpiece if she wasn't going to answer the questions?
She just read the talking points off the cards in front of her.

3. They both had lavalier (lapel) mics.
I assume they were backup for the microphones that were on the podiums (or vice versa.)

7. Yup. And in-ear montiors as well..........
Common performance setup. This is a non-issue.

4. But she had notes that she smuggled in
I didn't think notes (already written) were allowed into the debate, but she obviously was reading from cards while Biden was speaking. I think she smuggled them in her jacket pocket. She was reading from a lot more than notes she composed while standing there.

5. Would you peopel stop with this earpiece shit?
Who cares if she did have an earpiece. She sucked and lost the debate anyway. Next topic?

6. I did notice her mouthing the words "O.K" to someone, perhaps herself,
when Joe was talking. It peaked my curiousity just a bit.

9. See, that's why she did so poorly. She had a mic on, instead of a wire/earpiece.
Edited on Mon Oct-06-08 11:02 AM by Lorentz
They were probably wondering why she couldn't hear anything they were trying to tell her, and why her super-secret mic was being transmitted by the news crew covering the event.... :eyes:

Not that your argument is credible to begin with, but it loses even more impact when you can't spell "Sarah" correctly.

10. She just memorized some paragraphs as she had done in Alaska
Some of us watched her Alaska debates that CSpan kindly replayed after she'd been nominated, to help us get to know her. She rolled out Republican claptrap quite easily. Her answers had less substance than the opposition but flowed fairly smoothly. She tossed in some culture war bait there too-- the whole proud hunter stuff.

No wires necessary to roll out standard Republican lies into the appropriate slots &/or change those questions because you're gonna be you and not be pushed around by the damn media.

She didn't need a wire. She had meaningless propaganda and meaningful culture war lines to mix together.

Luckily, her memorized stuff made her look too Stepford Candidate. More people were turned off by her packaged presentation. Crossed the line from authentic to pre-programmed. And the winky stuff alienated the women she was initially chosen to draw to the Republican ticket.
