It's actually good that it's coming out now. If I were the McCain camp, and I actually thought it would work, I would have waited until Thursday or Friday before bringing up the Ayers thing.

This is a non-story that won't make a bit of difference in this election.

On Wednesday, everyone will be talking about the debate and the economy - not this bullshit.

1. great thing about Keating 5 is that it relates directly to the current situation
I Obama mentions it at the debate, it continues into the next news cycle

3. IMO, the only thing the Keating 5 story does is dampen the attack by McCain.
Again, in another few days we will all be talking about something else.

10. I must disagree...
The Keating 5 bit is about more than ethics - it shows PLAINLY how McCain has failed to learn from history and going to repeat it.
An ad could go something like this:
"In the 1980s, John McCain kept regulators off the back of S&Ls (pic of Keating and Lincoln Savings) - it cost YOU $124 Billion to bail them out. Early in this decade, John McCain helped keep regulators off the back of Wall Street - now it's going to cost you almost $700 Billion to bail THEM out. How much is the NEXT McCain bailout going to cost? John McCain - too expensive to be President."

4. I agree the timing of this "attack" is unfortunate for them.
Too early. And from the wrong person. She's a cartoon to most people, and she sullies whatever words she utters. I say progressives continue to go after her relentlessly as a buffoon, and dangerous, idiotic, vapid woman.

7. McCain will bring up Ayers tomorrow night
I don't know how specific he will be, but he will allude to it in some way. This is what they're reduced to. Smears are their game plan moving forward.

So McCain will attempt to keep it in the news, and if he brings it up in the town hall, it will most certainly be talked about it in the days after.

9. Keating --being economy related, could be discussed after the debate.
The Ayers thing is more appropriately countered with McCain's admiration for G. Gordon Liddy and praise of him, as another thread pointed out.
