Obama needs to be all high road tonight. Do not take the Sarah Palin bait.
Let others deal with Sarah and her despicable campaign. Obama should ignore it and answer the questions in a calm thoughtful way. If asked about Palin he should just say something to the effect of "it is unfortunate that she is stooping to character assassination rather than addressing the issues important to America and that is not the kind of change we need."

1. There no longer is a high road in American Politics
Obama needs to hit back with an equal amount tonight.

Too much and he will look nasty.
Too little and he will look weak.

Always go for a tie... when you are winning.

2. I think it will have to depend on McSame's attitude.
If he's in attack mode, let him throw the first shot and then Barack can come back on him hard.

But yes, generally, I think Barack should remain presidential and above the fray, let others do the attacking for him, unless he's personally attacked by McSame. If McSame goes after him, Barack needs to hit back hard.

Obama should try to maintain his attitude from the previous debate, where he appeared to Americans as the only mature, competent adult on the stage.

If McCain does say something about terrorists/Ayers/etc., though, Obama should give a quick comment such as, "He's criticizing me for serving my community on the same board as a man who did some despicable things when I was eight years old, yet he chose as his running mate a woman who, along with her husband, are former registered members of a secessionist group whose founder is buried in Canada because he didn't want to be buried under the quote 'damn flag' of the United States."

Of course, he'd say it much more succinctly and eloquently, but it should shut McCain up on that. ;-)

6. Why do people keep insisting that Obama is somehow going to change
his strategy?

Fortunately the Obama campaign doesn't get its strategy points from the internet like McLame's street-thug Steve does.

8. Obama should bait him into coming unglued on national TV.
Slowly but surely get gramps to crack.

What a gift that would be.
