PREDICTION: Obama will Out Debate the Old Man as usual, but we must be on top of those Pundits!
Edited on Tue Oct-07-08 02:25 PM by FrenchieCat
Face it. Barack Obama is running away with this thing, and that is not how things were "supposed" to go. The economic catastrophe has sorta gotten in the way.

And so, now it is all about the "Game changer" meme that McCain needs in order to even stay competitive at this point. Since reality doesn't allow John McCain to be an equal or better candidate, instead we are about to receive a prepackaged storyline that John McCain is still in this thing.

In this debate, the "powers that be" control the setting, the questioners, and the questions.
The media meanwhile has been busy "Prepping" the "cultural issues" regarding Barack Obama. Notice there are no such "Cultural" issues that the media raise regarding John McCain (although there are just as many i.e., his divorce, his shady connections, and his professional scandals, i.e., Keating 5)

The truth is that "They" need for Obama's numbers to drop, and they need them to drop now....which is why we have been hearing so much about this non issue of Ayers.....without too much of the factual disclaimer that this guilt by association attack is flimsy and without merit.

This pre-emptive attack on Obama to lower his poll numbers (due to the negative smears) can then be used as a result of his debate performance, no matter how good or how bad he does.

The only thing that our enemies do not control is the 'O'Man himself.....and so, they do not have a sure thing, but will try nevertheless.

Just remember that this is the only way for them to stop the 'O' man's run away bullet train.

As for us, we must be Ready! Because almost no matter how well Barack Obama does, this will most likely be a redux of ABC's Gibson/Steph Primary Debate Fixed Farce....and even if BrokeJaw actually is "fair" and Obama wins, the pundits will be pumping up McCain.

So......here again is contact information for you so that you can do something besides getting frustrated here at this site. And besides...today is my birthday, so I want to see some action coming from my dear DUers.

and sooooo, I HAVE ADDED NEW CONTACTS, such as Fox info, MSNBC General Email, Syndicated writer Clarence Page, and more data on reaching the New York Times. In addition, the email list of media reporters and personalities is now arranged in alphabetic order by first names.

If you have additional addresses and phone numbers, please add them in this thread, as I am updating everyday to offer a reliable and effective contact list.

They had to change their minds when the polls showed they were full of shit, though.

6. Do they really want to get embarrassed again though?
At some point you would think they might hold off on the declarations of victory until after a public consensus has formed. It is one thing for pundits to weigh in on the debate performances when the reviews are mixed, but when the public was so overwhelmingly behind Obama and Biden it just made the ones that declared Republican victory look silly.

26. Not really accurate
PBS's group of dumdums actually thought Obama did better in the first debate. They scored the VP contest even. So no, the media didn't just declare McCain/Palin the winners and say no more about it. They gave initial reactions, which were offered as just that, "initial," and then they went to their damn polls and dial-twisting and whatever and found (and reported) that, hey! Obama/Biden won with the voters!

I hate to keep saying this, but this year isn't 2000. It isn't 2004. This media isn't the 2000 or 2004 media. These voters aren't the 2000 or 2004 voters.

We must acknowledge the passage of time and the change it has brought. Context is everything. And, in context, Obama is the clear favorite to win tonight with voters and pundits.

He's more personable, more conversational, he's ACTUALLY been speaking to voters, unlike McCain, who's been napping or only at staged events. Plus, Obama need only do 2 things to win this debate: 1. keep his temper and firmly remind the audience that McCain is without a leg to stand on on the issues of the day. And 2. set the conversation for the rest of the week by talking about his own plans and ideas and the bankruptcy of McCain's platform. That's it.

In order for McCain to "win," even in the bizarro world of the media, he'd have to somehow throw Obama off his game, be charming and winning with the audience, look fresh and new, not get angry, give some real answers that are different than what he's been saying so far, and not look desperate. That's an impossibly tall order for a guy that I honestly believe is just going to go through the motions tonight and hope for a miracle.

Anyway, that's what I think.

5. yeah, just like the last debate or Palin. Not.
Frankly, I think much of your posts on the MSM border on the loony. And I'm certainly no fan of the MSM. Furthermore, speak for yourself when you say the entire MSM is our enemy. And please stop lying. Many MSM outlets have short circuited the McCain/Palin attacks on Obama. Many have brought forth facts about McCain and Palin.

Yeah, it's always an unqualified hit to bash the MSM here. A lot of the times it's right on. But anyone who doesn't get how much better the MSM is circa 2008 versus 2004, isn't paying attention.

28. Happy birthday ...
Jerkface liar! Media hater! (When's cake?)

Kidding aside, I don't know how anyone could watch the post-debate coverage of Palin v. Biden and not realize that the media was in the tank. When I heard Chuckie Toad talking about how she really won, except people hated Bush so much it didn't matter that she won, they were willing to say she lost to prove a point ... or whatever the hell he was rambling about, I wanted to strangle someone.

A nice e-mail would have been better. Keep up the good work.

7. They tried to call the last 2 for McNutso/Failin. Didn't work. This time
Edited on Tue Oct-07-08 02:05 PM by Jackpine Radical
expect them to have a better game plan in place. I think what went wrong last time was that there were all these instant polls of the public getting reported and showing nobody was buying McNutso/Failin victories. This time they'll have to either not report the instant polls, thereby giving them time to try to convince the public McNutso won, or find some way to jigger the results. I think both of these schemes are very iffy--I think that due to the Internet and things like Obama's channel, it is increasingly hard for them to maintain a monopoly on publicly available information.

I've been thinking along the same lines you were, Mlle. Chat.

What I am predicting is what the pundits will do. And yes, there is much to gloom and doom about their behavior. They are, after all, traitors to our democratic system....well many of them anyways.

The fact is that Ayers should not have gotten the kind of airing that it has. The fact is that pundits shouldn't be encouraging McCain to go after the "Cultural" issues. The fact is that it should never have been close, but the media is a large part of why it has been until a bomb was delivered to Wall Street.

Why not give them credit? No one said Obama lost the debate last time. The worst he did was "tie" McCain and that's fine.

McCain can't tie Obama, he needs a knockout.

23. It's how Democrats have learned to cope.
If you always believe the worst is going to happen, you're never disappointed.

And after Gore's devastating "loss" in 2000, Kerry's defeat in 2004, and the impeachment-is-off-the-table Dem Congress, lots of Democrats are used to feeling crushed.

Personally, I'm with you. McCain is going to try to paint Obama as some evil terrorist, and Obama is going to parry by talking about jobs and the economy. The country knows Obama is no firebrand. They will see right through McCain's attacks, and Obama's numbers will continue to rise.

I'm waiting for Texas to turn blue this time. There's still 29 days for that to happen!

McCain has completely fallen out of favor with the press (except, of course, for Faux News and the like). The best he can hope for is for them to call it a tie.

21. That's what I want to think.....
but then I realize that even though Palin has told the media to kiss her ass, they are still covering her fervently, and still lying about her crowd size, etc....

Yet Biden doesn't get the same coverage; not even close.

They are still saying that Obama is not passionate enough, didn't do enough to manage the economic crisis, and are still ragging on him in reference to the so called "Cultural" issues.

So, I'm not sure that the Press is that turned off of McCain.

19. Frenchie, I normally agree with you, but...
I DO think it's possible for John McCain to pilot himself into a spectacular crash-landing at this particular time, given his all-out false attack mode and his inexplicable acts over the last month or so. The media can often twist and ignore the truth, but not ALWAYS.

However, I do agree with you that if it's even remotely close, McCain will be at least awarded a "draw" - and of course a "win" by the RW pundicans. Hopefully, they'll keep showing the results of those "snap polls" which have been disagreeing with the conventional "wisdom", of late.
