Did the GOP even have a message at their convention?
All I really got out of it was: "Vote Bush because we hate John Kerry."

I mean, did they offer a single substantive idea during the entire week?

Seriously. The whole thing was just one week-long hate fest.

5. Two messages
1. Be afraid. Terror, terror, terror. 9/11, 9/11, 9/11
2. John Kerry is more of a danger to America than he whose name must not be mentioned. (HINT: His first name is Osama)

6. I think there were two messages
There was the "Vote Bush because we hate John Kerry." message, as you stated and then there was Bush's secondary message in his address, which is the "Don't look at what we've done so far, just believe the lies we're telling now." message.

8. We really should start
Referring to Zell as Senator Palpatine.

Actually the best description that I heard was that Zell looked like a cross between Palpatine and the Skeksis from The Dark Crystal.

10. I didn't watch
any of it, but from the snippets, from the speakers list and from my own observations, the only things I can fathom as happening at this convention are:

1) They hate all of us--over half of the country.
2) They love themselves, more than they love their kids, their wives, their entire families.
3) They chose NYC to capitalize on 9/11, as it was the only "shining moment" in the last three and a half years for them. Nevermind that it took 3 days for the dope to get to ground zero, and that BOTH Hillary and Bill were in NYC the same day it happened.
4) They have no platform. They haven't done shit right since January, 2001, and they ain't gonna change that in the next four years.
5) "Do as I say, not as I do." That's George's motto.
6) They've bankrupted the country already, so they have nothing to lose for the next four years. They can be the modern day equivalent of the Sheriff of Nottingham and kill peasants to get their last remaining dimes if that's what it takes, but emptying the pockets of their rich partners and cronies is forbidden.
7) Only the poor and disenfranchised will be sought if and when they decide to bring up the draft again. No rich kids will serve their country.
8) They attack Kerry because they don't have anything good to say.
9) They wouldn't know what "fair play" was even if it smacked them in the mouth.
10) They don't care what havoc they wreak in the next four years--they have enough money to move to higher and less polluted ground.

12. remember 9/11 it was like yesterday
the past 3 years of f-ups, economy, Iraq, where is Osama?

Forgettaboutit!

do you remember 9/11? 9/11? 9/11?

can you imagine a company reporting to its shareholders like that? Please ignore the 3 years of screw ups and red ink and the fact that we are bankrupt... remeber 3 years ago?

it was the weirdest thing, conventional wisdom, no pun intended would state that the DNC would be a bash fest, instead it would be optomistic. the RNC was a hateful Kerry Bash? why not trumpet your record? why not list accomplishments since 9/11?

nope the message was you think things are bad under us? they will be much worse under Kerry.

16. Yet, with all those reference to 9/11, not a single mention of bin Laden.
Odd isn't it?

13. Peat and Repeat
As the words, "9-11" were repeated and repeated and repeated (isn't that annoying?) I found they were concerned I would suddenly develop Alzheimers and apparently forget the worst event that has happened in my lifetime.

18. Yes:
911 is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the RNC. Look for merchandising opportunities soon!

Kerry Bad.

Saddam Bad.

Reality Bad.

Can I do the last four years over? I mean, I meant well and I was resolute! No, not stubborn, RESOLUTE! There is a difference, although I'll be stuffed it I know it.
