Pataki blamed Clinton for 9/11
The president took strong action to protect our country. That sounds like something any president would do. How I wish that were so.

You know the history. Osama bin Laden declared war on America -- and then came the attacks -- the first World Trade Center, the embassies, the USS Cole, hundreds dead, thousands injured.

PATAKI: How I wish the administration at that time, in those years, had done something.

(APPLAUSE)

How I wished they had moved to protect us. But they didn't do it.

On September 11th, al Qaeda attacked again. But this time they made a terrible mistake. There's one thing they didn't bank on. They didn't bank on George W. Bush.

2. pa talk i
So Pataki, who didnt protect us on Sept 11th

Why didnt GW Bush protect us, how come in the months leading
up to Sept 11th, GW Bush took 30days vacation (after only 6months in office) but I am told by Republicans that Presidents are allowed to
take vacations, I am glad they cleared that one up for me.
We wonder why Bush didnt use his pre emptive doctrine to save us
from the hijackers.
After all Sept 11th happened on his watch

6. Everything is Clintons fault.
That is part of the republican play book.
Blame Clinton for everything.
When dubya is defeted and congressional control is turned over to the Democrats, they will blame Clinton.
It is amazing how much they continue to hate that man.
The man the republican smear machine could not bring down!

9. No one blamed Bush I for the first WTC attack at the convention in '96.
Clinton had been President for about a month when the first WTC bombing took place, and I don't think anybody brought up Bush's failure to prevent it at Clinton's second convention. Republicans are sad, pathetic people.

...in the 90's and had "done something about it", based on what I remember them advocating at the time.

1993: First WTC bombing: Swift response: bomb Baghdad. No one arrested, no intelligence gained.

1996: Khobar Towers bombing: Swift response: bomb Baghdad.

Sometime in Late 90's: Ramzi Yousef succeeds in bombing multiple airliners over the Pacific, because 1993 WTC bombing was treated as "war, not police work" (thus there were never any "wanted" alerts for him). Swift response: bomb Baghdad. No one arrested, no intelligence gained.

1998: East African embassies bombed. Swift response: bomb Baghdad. No one arrested, no intelligence gained.

2000: Millenium bombings. Swift response: bomb Baghdad. No one arrested, no intelligence gained.

2001: 9/11 attack. Swift response: bomb Baghdad. More money sent to Taliban for their anti-drug efforts. Osama bin Laden visits Washington, has his photo taken in front of White House and other landmarks holding up a "You're next" sign, with no problems, because nobody knows who he is.

12. Bush did not a damn thing about the Cole attack;didn't fit into his plans!
Plans, that is, from his first National Security Council meeting, according to former treasury secretary Paul O'Neil and Richard Clark--Bush/Cheney were focused in on the "Saddam Hussein" problem.
