emotional abuse just sucks the life and light out of you. It's harder to leave because you don't have exterior wounds... and you think you're making it worse than it is. When I look at her, I see the face of an old woman trying desperately to retain her looks so that McVain will stop hurling insults at her about her aging.

I pity her, and yet I dislike her for having no fucking spine. I know that McVain is obessed with being president and will do whatever he has to do including sell out his wife and children to the likes of Rove and SChmidt, but she doesn't have do.

I think women look older when they try to look younger. Botox and the injectable gels, and laser treatments just make you look like a shiny old woman.

I'm not sure if she understands the full gravity of what she's saying...and that is not only dependent on the dynamics of her relationship, but many other things as well.

I can't help but wonder about that ... forgive me, I'm a liberal (and we think about stuff like that ... you know, people's health and welfare and so on) ... I don't really remember how she was at political events in 2000, before her stroke.

Now, don't get me wrong. I cannot STAND her or her husband. And this stuff about Obama's "nasty campaign" is so much hypocritical bullshit.

But I do wonder how much of her demeanor has to do with the after-effects of her stroke. She may not feel confident that she can pull details together quickly enough to talk to people who might ask about issues and so forth (some here this morning were discussing why she's always following John around and hanging back rather than engaging with the crowds).

I read this in a 2007 interview about her stroke damage:

"In conversation, she will occasionally have trouble remembering certain facts, especially from the recent past, and if you look closely you realize she cannot make her right hand into a complete fist, which has affected her handwriting, if not her ability to grasp a gearshift knob. She may really, LITERALLY, have half effed herself up and been half effed up by the stroke.
