Brady Quinn endorses McCain
by Mosheh Oinounou

STRONGSVILLE, OH — Cleveland Browns QB Brady Quinn and Left Tackle Joe Thomas endorsed the GOP nominee during a McCain-Palin joint rally outside Cleveland Wednesday.

Palin introduced the surprise endorsers at the end her speech today to cheers from the more than 2,000 supporters in the crowd.

Quinn introduced McCain and spoke briefly about how his service to the nation and time as a POW inspired him because he kept “fighting for freedom.”

“Too often times we label people heroes and get caught up in the moment but tonight we have a real hero amongst us,” Quinn said. “This is a man who endured great adversity yet remained loyal to his nation, a man who would not forsake his country…we need heroes like this to inspire us and to remind us that we are the greatest nation.”

He added that, “to me, Senator McCain embodies the American spirit which is a lifetime of patriotism and service to this country, first in the military and then in the Senate.”

10. He's taken very few snaps so how can you eveb dream to say he is
a "bust" as a NFL Quarterback...

He is an ass hole, I'll grant you that, but you can't say one way or another he is a bust until he is given the starting job...

22. Because he can't beat out Derek Anderson
Edited on Wed Oct-08-08 10:00 PM by GrizzlyMan
And the fact the Browns elected to KEEP Anderson this off-season when they could have gotten some value from him in a trade speaks volumes about Quinn's progression.

Then, in an open camp, he got beat out by Anderson again. The Browns are terrible. I'm having trouble figuring out why Crennel is waiting to get this supposed franchise QB get on the field.

Romeo made it pretty clear that Anderson was going to be the QB out of loyalty. Watch, Quinn will be in very shortly.

Browns' Brady Quinn allegedly involved in anti-gay confrontation in Columbus

Wednesday, February 13, 2008
Aaron Marshall
Plain Dealer Bureau

Columbus -- Cleveland Browns quarterback Brady Quinn was part of a group of men shouting insults at gay passers-by outside a Columbus bar early on New Year's Day, according to a 9-1-1 call made to police.

The call at 2:35 a.m. came from Seth Harris, who reported that he encountered the group in front of La Fogata Grill at 790 North High St. The Mexican restaurant is next door to the Union Café Bar + Food, one of Columbus' most popular gay bars in the gay-friendly Short North neighborhood.

On the 9-1-1 call, Harris said that "Brady Quinn from the Browns" was "trying to cause a fight." Harris told the operator, "I just walked outside and he exchanged many profanities with me and called me a faggot, of course."

Reached Monday by The Plain Dealer, Harris confirmed that Quinn was the person who used the slur...

39. I remember watching ESPN just before the election in '00.
The Redskins had played a game before election day. Supposedly how the Redskins play before the Presidential election indicates the winner of the Presidential race. Mark Malone and Kevin Greene were doing the story on this phenomenon and Greene mentioned that if this proves true that * would win the election, all with a big smile and thumbs up.

Fuck you Kevin Greene.

Edited on Wed Oct-08-08 10:45 PM by Forkboy
Obviously there are different factors at play in this election than in '04, but there plenty of players who supported Bush in the article I read, and the number was close to 3/4. I wish it had been an online article so I could share it.

For the record, I'm not trying to pick on the NFL. I bet many athletes making good money lean Right when things are going good economically. The theme in '04 was the "patriotism" angle (the war was still fairly popular then), which hopefully isn't playing so well this time.

With the AA players finally having a fellow AA to vote for and I can see why my number might not be right for '08, but it was for '04. The article didn't break it down by race, but many of the players were AA, including many on the Patriots.

Trust me, it made my head hurt reading it. :)

67. Are you kidding?
Strong players union, roughly 60% or more black players, lots of kids whose only way out of the streets was ball? Now if you said 2/3 of quarterbacks were Republicans I would agree, but quarterbacks aren't REAL football players anyway. They wear the red shirts and you aren't allowed to touch them in practice. Hmmmmm, on second thought, I bet closer to 90% of all quarterbacks are Republicans.

on steroids, to which the term lax would be an understatement, or the NBA on pot, but for the last 20 or 30 years the NFL has had a model drug testing policy particularly on steroids. I'm not sure where you are getting that it is lax, not since back in the 70's anyway.

55. Since he's the second-stringer...
...shouldn't he stick to endorsing Palin?

Anyway, the endorsement McCain was really seeking out was that of Dave Zastudil. (The punter.)

78. It's not just you.
Brady Quinn sets off the gaydar for many people.
That might be because there was a gay dating site that used his image for some of their online advertising. (Not with his consent.)
