I nominate Newt Gingrich for Creepiest.... Republican.... Ever
Edited on Thu Oct-09-08 08:26 AM by Armstead
I know he has a lot of competition, but Newt is the skin-crawlingist member of the entire right wing IMO.

I made the mistake of watching him for a few minutes on Hannity and Colmes last night...I realized that I would rather be trapped in a room full of non-stop videos of Sarah Palin than have to endure five minutes of Newt's creepy persona.

His smug, impenetratable aura of all knowing amusement combined with his high-pitched, fussy, androgynous voice and his little aged pixie face is a truly skin-crawling combination.

What's worse is that he's smart, and he knows he is talking crap.

Last night he was parrotting the talki9ng points about Ayers and Acorn and Obama's otehr "associations."

"Obama isn't answering these questions" he kept repeating. Newt totally ignored it when Colmbes tried to point out that the board Ayers and Obama served on is funded by a conservative Republican.....In otehr words, Newt knew the answer, but he didn't want to bother addressing it beyond mudslinging.

I wish Newt would stick to his Ivory Tower and go back to writing historical nonsense.

4. Newt takes that level of creepiness to another dimension
McCain's a fairly straightforward grumpy old geezer who tries to be charming and can;t quite hide his grumpiness.

Newt is something else.....A bizarre babyman

6. The though occurred to me of a 12 nomination fight race between Newt and Palin
What's odd is that the same right-wing dopes who consider Obama to be too "exotic" might actually support this truly bizarre character.

8. I have an additional nomination to the pantheon of GOP Creeps.....
Edited on Thu Oct-09-08 08:56 AM by texanshatingbush
.....my former congressman, Tom DeLay--evil incarnate, stuffed full of himself, pathological liar. This is the guy who, at some diplomatic soiree, asked a French diplomat if he spoke German, and when the diplomat replied "No", DeLay said "you're welcome". He's human slime.

Maybe Newt and DeLay will team up for the Publican ticket in 2012. This would definitely energize their base, and allow Palin the opportunity to hone her knowledge of foreign leaders and cultures in a role as Secretary of State.

Oh, I forgot, they'd have to be elected first.

9. Newt is BAD no doubt
He's been out of Congress for a few years but he still keeps coming around and spreading his manure all over the airwaves and the corporate media still amazingly consider him to be a credible source of information and analysis. :eyes:

Frankly, however, Palin is starting to worry me just a bit more in regards to how she is getting people worked up over Obama to the point that people may become radicalized (how ironic given the right's criticism of Ayers' "radicalism") to engage in violence (terrorism)? Newt is certainly a big a**hole and McCain may be a bit of a jerk but Palin is really starting to live up to her self-described moniker as a "pit bull" (edited to add: "rabid") and not in the way that we are normally accustomed to dealing with from Republicans (at least not the "mainstream" ones).

:scared:

15. There is a lot of competition...But Newt fails my "If he were on our side" test
My yardstick for a Creepy Republican is how I would feel about them if they were liberal Democrats.

Even if Newt were a rip-roraring progressive, he'd still creep me out.

14. I still have nightmares from the mid to late 90's because of that man
Edited on Thu Oct-09-08 10:14 AM by Jennicut
However, he looks like small potatoes compared to the nut crew from the 2000's. Cheney, Delay, Ashcroft, Rumsfeld, Larry Craig...who was that Senator in FL that caught got trying to get with a paige? That guy was creepy. Old Newtie set the stage for a lot of them though. I certainly don't miss seeing his face at State of the Unions. I used to throw stuff at the t.v. whenever he was on. Weird but he brings back college memories of me yelling at the news.

17. Newt is most famous as a Republican Propagandist, here's a link
to his propaganda training sheet to teach Republicans how to distort the truth most effectively.

The Newt Gingrich word list-- "Language: A Key Mechanism of Control" -- is the title

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article4443.htm

Newty provided a list of positive words to use about fellow Republicans. Then he lists "Contrasting Words" for their opponents. Here's the clip on that:

Often we search hard for words to define our opponents. Sometimes we are hesitant to use contrast. Remember that creating a difference helps you. These are powerful words that can create a clear and easily understood contrast. Apply these to the opponent, their record, proposals and their party.

* abuse of power
* anti- (issue): flag, family, child, jobs
* betray
* bizarre
* bosses
* bureaucracy
* cheat
* coercion
* "compassion" is not enough
* collapse(ing)
* consequences
