Ralph Stanley gettin' out the vote in rural America

Dear Friend,

Country and Bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley was born and raised in Virginia, and he still lives there today.

He has seen first-hand what eight years of George Bush's failed policies have done to rural communities. And he knows that Virginia -- and the rest of the country -- just can't afford four more years of the same.

Ralph recorded a special message to show his support for Barack Obama. We want to share it with you, and ask you to share it with people you know who are concerned about the issues facing rural Americans all across the nation.

Watch the video, then share it with your friends, family, and neighbors.

Join Ralph Stanley in spreading Barack's message of change.

Barack knows that rural Americans are struggling like all Americans -- trying to make ends meet while the costs to fill up the gas tank or get health care are skyrocketing. Barack wants to make sure that every family has the chance to live the American promise.

Listen to Ralph Stanley's message supporting Barack and share it today:

Together, we can help bring the change we need to our communities.

Thank you,

Rural Americans for Obama

1. God bless Ralph Stanley.
If I'm ever 1/10th as badass as Ralph Stanley, I will have lived a good life.

2. As odd as it sounds - this is MAJOR in this area of the country
I've already been pounding my address book sending this to people in my region that enjoy bluegrass and country music - some practically worship Mr. Stanley.

This is a bigger endorsement to many in the South than any politician could ever dream of receiving!

3. Holy Crap! This is big.
Ralph Stanley is a country music icon. NODOBY fucks with Ralph Stanley-although, how funny would it be for Ralph to offer McCain the use of "O Death" for his campaign song?

4. Beautiful, indeed.
That audio has been playing on radio for a couple of weeks and I believe it has really helped in Virginia. Adding the video and spreading it across the country will be a big help.

5. I just sent the Obama campaign a message...
suggesting they do this as a TV ad if it hasn't already been done...and that it be shown here in Ohio. I know a lot of "old bluegrassers" who don't have computers and who consider Ralph only slightly less than God himself.

6. Ralph really has a feel for the problems of rural America
It's a feel that avoids the faux-hillbilly McCain and Bush-supporting country music stars.
