Will you allow yourself a day / week / year of gloating?
With the economy up the creek, which puts a spanner in many of the Social programmes and chances of reform for a good part of the next term, a Democratic victory will be great, but it will be tempered by the fact that the Republicans are leaving not just the US, but the World in such a mess that most of the first term will be spent clearing up their crap.

Victory will however be great. It will end years of incompetence and misrule. It will have totally destroyed and got rid of forever the need to play to a bigot wing in the Democratic Party. So do we allow ourselves to gloat and are there any sites you look forward to visiting?

Personally I cannot wait to revisit McBush pages on YouTube. I also look forward to the tears of the PUMA bigots. I can imagine one crying a River, and if we do pull off Texas (wow) someone not being quite so darling to be with.

10. I cannot donate or drive
donating is illegal and the drive across the Ocean may take a while ;-) but I can (and do) make calls. And good call to remind people it is not won until the 270 + electors are decided.

16. Good for the calls! Mind sharing to which states you are calling?
I just looked at the Senate races at electoral vote. com and Minnesota and Oregon are leaning precariously Dem; they show 57 Senate seats Dem so far; we need to pick those up and then some!

as I have a friend who lives there so I kind of have a local feel for the place (only in a Palin kind of way - just as she would have a feel for tele canvassing Moscow). Where do you suggest?

29. Minnesota would be a GREAT pickup (with Franken).
www.mybarackobama.com has that kind of advice fro DIYselfers.

I'm in AZ and am calling NM (AZ doesn't have senate races this year and we sadly will not go blue with a McCain).

Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home ... I'll

7. Nah, it's not about beating someone, it's about convincing them what's right.
A victory is a sign that we have convinced more people. Nothing to gloat about, just an opportunity to prove ourselves.

I will be thankful and relieved and ready to get to work for the hard job ahead. It's not going to be easy for any President.

And thanks, ukfordems, for what you're doing. :yourock:

21. It does help kill the widely view that
was generated across the World by your last election, until you find a Republican on the other end of the phone.

As for "Drill here now", I still kind of want to know why Republicans want an oil well in their front room? Bit beyond me.

23. I don't give one damn about "gloating". I, and so many other people,
will simply be profoundly relieved that America is coming out from under the yoke of criminal Republicanism. What a relief! That's what we will be feeling. Maybe even some hope.

24. I'm not a gloater.
It's just not in me. I mean, privately I'll definitely be thinking "HA!" And with like-minded friends, I'll do a LOT of high-fiving, hugging, crying tears of joy.

But gloating's just not really my style, never has been. It'll be more like sheer happiness and relief. Besides I promised God if he wins I won't gloat. Or ever gossip again. Or ever drink gin before 9 am. It's gonna be hard, but I have promises to keep.

31. I will allow myself one full day to relax and breathe. I feel like I've
been holding my breath ever since the SCOTUS decision in 2000, always waiting for something terrible to happen. And it did happen and continues to happen, over and over again. I can't relax until this administration is gone. So, once Obama is sworn in I will indulge myself for one day and try to feel normal again.

32. Celebrations, yes. Maybe a little rubbing it in.
But out and out gloating? Not really.

And it'll be on two occasions: after it's clear he's the winner by a long unconestable margin, usually when McCrypt has conceded publically, and on Inauguration Day.

But then we got work to do anyway.

Mark.
