McCain/Palin exploit the media's desire for "objectivity"
The media is so concerned with appearing "objective," that they are vulnerable to any well-financed force that comes along and is willing to say anything and lie and smear to win. They refuse to do the job of forcefully calling bullshit, because that would be "partisan," and so they continue to claim that "both sides" are lying about each other and "both sides" are trying to cheat the system by manipulating voter registration. This false "fairness" is allowing the GOP to get away with murder. All they have to do is make the lies bigger and bigger and they can get away with anything.
