Is there more to this, or aren't we just talking about a couple rogue employees? These voters never made it on the rolls, the real attempt to defraud was by the employees to defraud ACORN - they tried to turn in fake reg's to up their tallies and they got paid per new reg (which is not a plan I approve of, and duh, encourages this sort of junk, but you hope people will do right) - again, this was an attempt to defraud ACORN into paying out more, not an attempt to mess with the voter rolls.

And the idiots who did it should have thought about what the extrapolations would be, but it's rogue employees looking to get paid, not an organization looking to subvert the process.

Period.

And btw, most of what ACORN does is really positive and goodness knows they're not the only org to have corruption problems - and these were tiny - how about ABRAMOFF and the whole Congress, maybe focus on that for subversion of the process.

1. That is most likely the problem. When paying base on something that is not supervised...
there will be problems.

2. They are Hyping Up This Story to Justify VOTER PURGES
They are purging voters, especially in swing states. They are hyping this story to give them cover.

3. That Is It Precisely, Sir: Acorn Employees Defrauded Acorn, It Has Nothing To Do With Vote Fraud
Non-existent persons, registered or not, do not show up at the polls.

Real eligible voters, 'purged' by Republican officials in districts voting heavily Democratic, are real people, registered to vote, but barred from doing so by political chicanery, in many cases constituting criminal violations.

6. That is much better stated: these "voters" were never going to be registered
I challenge a Republican to show that any ONE of these fake registrations actually ended in a "person" even being able to *register* - no less vote.

All that happened was ACORN got defrauded as to their payouts. And shouldn't these sewer dwellers be thrilled with anything that drained Acorn's resources?

4. The whole point is to suppress votes in black and low-income precincts.
ACORN is a grass-roots organization that registers poor people to vote. Republicans don't want poor people voting. Since McShame decided to go racist, the Republicans now really depend on suppressing the vote in black neighborhoods, because they know that people are outraged by McShame's race-baiting.

Ohio was stolen in 2004 by suppressing and changing the vote in majority Democratic precincts, many of them urban neighborhoods with large African American populations. The Republicans lost their cronies in Ohio. The new Democratic secretary of state there is kicking butt and taking names. She's testing the voting machines and declaring them unfit for use.

So the Republicans are dropping back to their other tactic - suppressing the black vote by kicking black people off the rolls. This is what they've been doing in Florida and other Republican-friendly states.

2008 has seen record-breaking expansions of the voting rolls. People are excited. Many people are registering to vote for the first time in their lives because for the first time, they have hope. The Republicans are looking to shut down this exuberance and keep those people from voting.

5. 1.3 million new voters registered
a couple thousand duplicate registrations. I'd say that's a pretty decent ratio.
