Frankly, I don't know if I like it or not -- meaning will it be seen for what it is or will it hurt Obama.

CBS didn't run anything firing back from the Obama rally.

And NBC only ran the one small clip of Biden saying that a "real man would say it to your face."

These people are so over the board filled with hate and in a total crazed frenzy it can't be anything but racism....why don't the freakin' networks just go out in the crowd and let these bigots say it straight into the cameras....that's not bias, it's called REPORTING!!!!!!!

1. THAT is exactly what these numbnuts want...to be plastered all over the TV and papers.
If anything violent does happen, the media will be as guilty as those spouting the violence-inciting words!!!

2. How could it hurt Obama?
Serious question. I'm not seeing how showing nuts people with irrational hate and fear of Obama would hurt him. It seems like more borderline people could be embarrassed by it.

Are you worried that it could whip up more hateful people?

8. I'm saying this regarding the way it was framed on the news.
Edited on Thu Oct-09-08 05:58 PM by rvablue
All that was really said around (as in the intro and the exit by reporter) these nuts ranting and raving is that they were "worried" or "concerned" or "disappointed."

Yeah, I definitely think it could embarrass borderlines, but I also think it could be taken the other way, because of the way the media is covering it "objectively."

I mean these people weren't "worried" they're almost foaming at the mouth and I think they should be exposed for what they are, not necessarily "conservatives worried their candidate is losing" (which is the way the media is reporting it)but born and bred bigots whose heads are ready to explode at the idea that a black man is going to president.

3. I was wondering the same thing also...
there were a couple of polls closer than last week and I was wondering if it was because of Ayers and making people umcomfortable with the "black man."

But then gain I got killed in the thread....I guess I do not know anything.

I think in the end of the day, it will not hurt Obama...people are hurting out there and the voters don't give a crap about these side issues....they want to know which candidate is serious about the issues and is going to help them.

10. I can't remember exactly
but one old guy stood up and was yelling into the microphone:

"How can you let this happen?" in reference to McCain losing to Obama.

Writing it down doesn't do it justice, I'm sure it's on You Tube somewhere, but I'm still was those with dial up so I can't take the time to look for it.

6. they smell defeat and it's making them crazy.
The idea of a Democrat in the White House is making them terrified and insane. Because they don't see Obama as President, they see the straw man they've created--the terrorist who wants to take down the country from the inside. Their "proof" comes from things like "he refuses to release his birth certificate!" and similarly ridiculous stuff.

And they see him as having help doing it from the Democratic majority in Congress. They see them all as pure evil without a patriotic bone in their bodies. The terror they have created is their own fault. Making stuff up about Obama and then believing their own spin.

36. and tonight I think I've seen the worse ad yet from some...
...whacko 527, on CNN... it plastered the dreaded W E L F A R E word across the screen, threatening the besieged electorate with Obama giving our tax dollars from his "3 trillion dollar plan" to W E L F A R E recipients. It was sad, and I laughed, and then I got mad.

7. Actually, the fact that crazy people are getting this coverage
is making me giggle.

Think about it--if Joe Biden was set to do a rally at 8pm on a given night, but the Klan was set to endorse John McCain at the same time, who would you rather the media broadcasted?

Get it into the open. Show the world who these people are and make them realize "Fuck...I don't want to associate with people like that."

11. That's probably the move now
"I don't want to associate with people like that."

The Wall Street Republicans (and their subsidiary media networks) are in the process of dumping the God 'n guns crowd.
Money comes first.
The plutocracy does not want that hockey mom anywhere near the White House during the fiscal crisis.

12. I totally agree with you
but I want it more so.

I don't think these bigots are ashamed for one minute about how their reptilian brains work.

That's why I'm sick of the media calling them "concerned conservatives" and I want them to wade out into the crowds and interview these people so they can use their own words to show the public how insane they are.

At this point, I think more in-depth coverage, which will never happen, would be better than the "he said, he said" objectivity. But I guess we feel this way every election cycle............

13. The thing about these people is that they are PUSSIES when they come to my Obama table
I can count on my one hand a McCain supporter who would stop by to talk about the issues and stay for a reasonable discussion. Usually, they are social outcasts that shout something stupid and scamper away like cowards.

We'll see how the last four weeks go. We're ready.

15. Yep, it was HERE, in MY COUNTY - I am embarassed!!
some words that were said:

http://www.620wtmj.com/news/local/30675874.html
Newsradio 620 WTMJ Talk Show Host James T. Harris, attending the event as a spectator, begged McCain to get tougher with Obama in their final debate.

"I am begging you sir, begging you, take it to him," he exclaimed.

"Yes, I'll do that," McCain replied after giving Harris a hug.

Other audience questions weren't quite so plaintive.

"I'm mad. I'm really mad," one man said. "And what's going to surprise you is isn't the economy. It's the socialists taking over our country. ... We are mad! So go get 'em."

"I think I got the message," McCain replied after the crowd broke into a chant of "USA, USA."

"The gentleman is right. The Democrats have been in the majority the past two years, have you seen any improvement?"

McCain also referenced Obama's connection with 1960s radical William Ayers without mentioning him by name.

"Senator Obama said he was just a guy in the neighborhood. We know that's not true. We need to know the full extent of the relationship," McCain said.

Responding to repeated "ACORN!" calls from the crowd, McCain stopped the audience questions for a moment to address widespread allegations of voter fraud in Milwaukee and throughout a number of battleground states.

"No one must corrupt the most precious right we have and that is the right to vote," he said.

Two people in Milwaukee have been charged with felonies in the past week -- one for submitting false names on voter registration cards and the other for being a felon illegally attempting to register people. Dozens of other possible violations are being investigated.

Outside the sports complex before the event, people waiting in line also brought up the issue to protesters by shouting "Stop voter fraud!" at them.

There were a couple other comments made I heard on news, but can't find quotes - and ANYWAY, QUOTING THESE ASSHOLES iS NOT WORTH ANY MORE OF MY TIME ... And just FYI, last time I read about voter fraud 9 people were charged... !

After eight years of watching nothing but Faux and listening to Hannity/Limbaugh, it is dawning on them that they are about to get crushed (saved, actually, but they don't know it). They are dangerous.

17. Good stuff for a minority, disciplined, ideological party.
But not good for a party that wants a majority of votes. Progressives and conservatives are decided. But centrists and apoliticals will not be drawn in by the GOP attempts.

If I were in the media (well, if I were in the media, you guys would have a hell of a lot more fun watching the news, but that's another matter) ... I would look at what I had, and remember just how often the cretins on the right cry "bias", and say, "all right, you want just the facts? I've got your fucking facts RIGHT HERE." *roll tape.*
