Crazed Pastor claims Palins cried upon hearing message he gave them in Ohio...
Edited on Fri Oct-10-08 08:38 AM by The Night Owl
Pastor Mark Arnold claims that he travelled to a McCain-Palin rally in Lebanon, Ohio to deliver a message to the candidates- a message he claims is from God. I suspect that the pastor's account is entirely or mostly a fabrication but it is interesting nonetheless because it gives a glimpse of the kind of fanaticism we are up against...

PASTOR GIVES MESSAGE TO JOHN McCAIN, TODD & SARAH PALIN

On Tuesday, Sept. 9th, the McCain / Palin Bus came through a little town called, Lebanon, Ohio.

The LORD allowed me to go to the Rally giving them a message that He wanted me to personally deliver.

...

Sunday Night - a burden hit me that would only shake me to my knees - I prayed and wept for our Nation. Never has my heart been so broken before God. I literally interceded for these wonderful people who do not deserve all the hate against them. The GOD-Haters are going to try everything to stop them, but they will not succeed! God is not pleased with the "bashing" in the News of this "Anointed" person. He has called her for this time! I promised God that I would pray and hold them up in prayer. I would "listen" out and be mindful of where they were. The following day is important in this time-line... because I didn't even know until God spoke to me...

...

It was at this moment Sarah Palin, reached out for me to help her up and as I was assisting her to stand was now face to face with her and GOD said, "Open up your Mouth and I will fill it."

Here is what came out...

"God wants you to know that you are a present day Esther!" {She immediately began to cry}!

19. I am an atheist but firmly believe everyone has a right to their beliefs. BUT freedom of religion
Edited on Fri Oct-10-08 08:41 AM by JohnMcCant2008
is also freedom FROM religion.

I get offended though when believers (aka Palin and her nutbag followers) decide it is their mission to save me, our country or anybody outside the walls of their own home and church.

We have fallen away from our Constitutionally mandated separation of church and state through years of fundie and right-wing agenda. This needs to change.

That is all.

Esther would do anything for her people. Palin's a pathologically lying, vindictive, policy lightweight who abuses power, makes women pay for rape kits and allows wolves to be cruelly murdered.

24. Esther says, "Get it right, folks...."
"Some of you aren't oppressed at all.... Stop Whining! Others of you who really are oppressed have just got to get it together and stop looking at the oppressors as deliverers. Moses didn't go back to Pharaoh and say hey, there's a bunch of gold brickers working on your pyramids that are making life harder for the rest of us. He told Pharaoh to let my people go. I didn't go to the king and talk about the goldbrickers. I told the King to save my people. I knew which end was up and which end was simply the back end of a moose"."

It was amazing. :wow:

13. I wonder what the religious spin will be. . .
when they lose? I know they can't entertain the notion they are wrong but I wonder if in their religious zeal to claim insight to their version of the Almight, how this will play when they lose. I know for some they will think they didn't work hard enough thus blame themselves, but I hold out hope for others who do some soul searching that this moment might serve as an epiphany and thus be enlightened.

20. That is a plausible unfortunate outcome, seeing this
political event as a precursor to the rapture. For the Pentecostalists, I think you are correct for the most part but there are terrific theological differences between say, Pentecostalists and Baptists both of which are collectively grouped into the religious right.

15. So Palin is a modern-day Esther? Not sure if that's such a ringing endorsement
A peculiarity of Persian law that also occurs in the Book of Daniel is that royal edicts of this sort could not be reversed, even by the king--by siding with the Jews instead of their persecutors the King presumably dissuaded any pogroms. The King also issued a second edict allowing the Jews to arm themselves, and this precipitated a series of reprisals by the Jews against their enemies. This fight began on the 13th of Adar, the date the Jews were originally slated to be exterminated. Esther and the Jews went on to kill not only their would be executioners but also their wives and children, this altogether meaning three hundred killed in Susa alone, seventy-five thousand killed (fifteen thousand in the Greek biblical account) in the rest of the empire.

So if we follow the analogy, Palin wins the vice-presidency and will lead the formerly persecuted (i.e. right-wing christians) in a frenzied revenge killing of their persecutors (i.e. the rest of us) and their children.

Interesting. and by 'interesting' I mean 'thoroughly bat-shit crazy'.

25. This offends me as a Christian
First of all, I respect anyone's right to the religious convictions of their choice or to have no religious convictions at all if they so choose. That's what this country should be about - acceptance and tolerance.

But this kind of stuff really offends me. To me it is sacrilegious that anyone dare say they speak for God. I absolutely hate the fact that these freaks have highjacked Christianity and are trying to turn it into a reason to hate other people. That is certainly not what it means to me.

Though the Prophetic movement is based on Christianity, it is, in my opinion, very far removed from it. I think the key difference between mainstream Christians and Prophetic Christians is that the Prophetic Christians view Christ as something which can constantly be redefined by whatever ideas they get in their heads.

33. Of course she is Esther
wiki entry.

As early as the eighteenth century, the lack of clear corroboration of any of the details of the story of the Book of Esther with what was known of Persian history from classical sources led some scholars] to doubt that the book was historically accurate. It was argued that the form of the story seems closer to that of a romance than a work of history, and that many of the events depicted therein are implausible and unlikely.

A made up story. implausible and unlikely describes her perfectly.
