Please Rec. if you think it is time for Obama to make a MAJOR INSPIRATIONAL speech about the economy
He needs to say something, like ONLY he can, to lift the spirits of scared Americans up.

A "ask not what your country can do for you...." type speech...

A "I have a dream..." type speech...

Something like his 2004 convention speech, "I am my brother's keeper, I am my sister's keeper..."

Americans are very scared right now, and I know Obama IS the man to lead America back to greatness --- He already has many of things which need to be said in his previous campaign talking points, put them all together...This is about us now, this is when we the American people can work together to start a new day...etc. Our time is now, the fear urgency of now...etc. rebuild our country from the bottom up...

He can acknowledge the people's fears, talk about how we have been beaten down, it is scary times, it is most painful when you are at the bottom...etc. But, we can do better, we will do better, and he plans to lead us to that better place!!!

I want to see us try to get a million people turnout for this, somewhere outside, maybe Central Park, maybe in PA, or maybe the National Mall...etc.

If you agree, please recommend. If you work for or know someone close to the campaign, please pass this on!

Our 401k is down 30 percent.

Are you in for the long haul or are you needing the money soon/now?

14. We considered getting out...
...a few months ago, and we just decided to hang on.

It's hard to watch your money disappear like that, but if you're in it for the
long-haul, then you're actually in a best-case scenario--as far as those who
have lost money.

Can you imagine being a retiree, who still has money in the market? Or
someone who has a 401k and is planning on retiring within the next
five years?

Time is on our side.

2. Listen to the speech he just gave - I found it very inspirational and reassuring,
while not dismissing the gravity of the situation.

I'm guessing this will be a BIG part of his half hour address to the American people.

5. It will be on his website and most likely on YouTube (and, frequently, it
will show up here, too.)

6. His 30 minute network time buy for Oct. 29 is the anniversary of the 1929 Stock Market Crash.
So put 2 + 2 together. ;)

7. I actually think he needs to tone down the inspiration and get more specific.
Somebody needs to act like a President, considering Bush has vacated the job.

I think it's time for him to be seen in consultations with his economic team. I think it's time for that team to begin to make press appearances. They allowed this during the bailout negotiations and they should do that again.

I think our nation is jittery to the point where pure "inspiration" just isn't going to cut it.

That's what I'd like to see, anyhow. And I know this isn't going to be a popular position, so let me just walk over and stand against this wall over here for the firing squad. :smoke:

11. For the moment, however, Inspiration plays very nicely against the vitriol of
the Palin and McCain rallies.

so I think the timing is good, but he does need to become specific.

His SS solvency plan is brilliant, I'm expecting to hear these specifics soon, closer to election day.

Though it's tricky as people are already casting their ballots....

There is no leadership from Bush.

The leadership on the economy has to come from the presidential candidates.

This is an opportunity for Obama to further solidify his lead and to show
his leadership, and that he truly will be the one to lead us out of this
crisis.

I'm not talking about a speech on the campaign trial. He needs a big speech--
surrounded by his economic advisors. Maybe pull in some other economic experts
and heavyweights. This needs to be out-of-the-box.

There is REAL opportunity here. And he's better do it before Grandpa McNutjob
thinks of it first.
