I'm sick of people saying that negativity is coming from "both sides"
the only negativity I'm seeing is coming from McCain and McCain only. Obama's ads are not negative, IMO. They're nothing but facts. McCain's ads are filled with lies. Obama pointing out McCain's lies is not negative IMO.

4. They make no difference between definite lies and unpleasant facts.
Edited on Fri Oct-10-08 12:37 PM by Overseas
The reporters know for a fact that many Republicans are associates of Professor Ayers, including big Republican donors, the Annenbergs, and that McLiar and Failin have been lying and stirring up dangerous hatred by pretending Obama associates with terrorists.

STILL they pretend that pointing out the many many times McCain has favored deregulation is the same as a smear that has been proven false several times already.

Paul Begala countered that on Larry King last night.
Somebody was saying "they both do" and Begala corrected him saying it was the McCain campaign that was overwhelmingly negative. These news shows think they have to say "they both" are guilty of whatever point they're making in order to sound "fair." It's not about fairness; it's about truth.

5. The Dem campaign sticks to impersonal FACTS. The oppo creates and/or finds negativity on theinternet
and then shares it all over the place while blaming Democrats for it, when in fact, though Democrats have members who ARE im-moderate, much of the internet negativity is created by TROLLS and other liars.

6. ME TOOOO...This is a conversation I had today w/a friend who says she wont vote:
an instant message about the hate mongers at the McCain/Palin rallies...

Friend: but you know what..... that goes both ways.... people for Obama say bad things about mccain/palin -- it goes both ways. you can't say THEY are being ignorant.... when both sides do it. -- and im not saying YOU’RE saying... I’m just saying... the guy filming it was obviously a supporter for obama so he has his biased opinions himself.
Friend: my 2 cents
Me: but we're not calling McCain a terrorist
Me: or a muslim
Friend: but u call him other things
Me: what ERRATIC???
Me: what...would you rather be called erratic or a terrorist????
Friend: look.... lets not even do this.. its a no win situation
Me: so you think its ok for mccain to have people in his audience and shout "Kill him" "Off with his head" and then smirk???
Me: seriously...answer that please
Friend: no i dont
Me: thats all i needed to hear/see
Friend: you seriously think i would think that is okay?
Friend: seriously?
Me: i hoped not
Me: but i see a huge difference in erratic and accusing someone of being a terrorist
Me: and no i didnt think you'd approve of that
Friend: u hoped not
Me: no i didnt THINK you did...i also didnt think you'd think that erratic and terrorist were equated
Me: its not just a pissing contest
Me: you call me this...i call you that
Me: there are lines that you just DO NOT cross
Me: and its my opinion that mccain/palin should be STOPPING it and not LAUGHING at it…that’s what pisses me off…

7. False equivalency
Today's pundits think they have to say both sides are just as bad. If they can't find examples to prove it they make shit up.

16. Yes! Yes! Not all truths are equally True; they want us to think they are, but they are NOT
Some "answers" ARE

WRONG

8. Paul Begala called them out on CNN the other night. He said all the vitriolic, disgusting stuff is
coming from only one campaign, McCains. Both Gergen and Ed Rollins were forced to agree when he called them on it.

12. I saw that and this was my post... I’m buying Ed Rollins a Merriam-Webster Dictionary

Ed Rollins on AC360 just equated “terrorist” and “erratic” …and in doing so, sounded like a spoiled little brat… “Well, Obama is saying McCain is erratic”

ERRATIC
Function: adjective
Having no fixed course : wandering <an erratic comet> barchaic : nomadic

TERRORIST
Function: noun
The systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion

I think I'd much rather be called erratic than a Terrorist...Thank God Paul Begala is there

9. More and more journalists and pundits
are saying this. Paul Begala was very adamant about this. Jeffery Toobin is another.

10. CNN is especially guilty of perpetuating this false balance BS.
I'm so sick of CNN precisely because of this. Every talking head on that channel insists on assigning equal blame to both sides on every issue. So glad I'm not the only one out there noticing this.

21. TRUE and It's funny because it is sooooooooo ANTI-CONSERVATIVE.
Absolutely and completely the opposite of what makes "Conservative" Conservative, i.e. that which has been identified as Real/True is preserved and/or given primary priority.

The media is saying "Either the Truth is what WE say it is - or - there is NO Truth, because All propositions are equally True."

11. Paul Begala did an excellent job drawing a distinction on this last night
on CNN.

It was played during Campbell and then four more times repeated into the night.

I had election fever last night and could not remove from self from the cable shows despite repetition.

14. The only thing that can even remotely be considered negative on the Obama side..
would be that 13-minute "Keating 5" video about McCain.

However, seeing as how it has already been fact-checked as being totally accurate, I'm not sure one can even call it negative.

20. I personally don't think it's negative. I think it's showing people
that you can't trust a man that was involved with that to help our financial troubles.

17. There's a local radio host in Columbus who does that. It drives me crazy.
When a caller points out some egregious act by a Republican, this guy is quick to jump in with "we're seeing that from both sides", even though it's 90+% from one side. He gets a lot of right-wing callers since he's on just before Rush (though on another station) so I assume he is trying to mollify the RW wackos in his audience to preserve his ratings. It still makes me sick every time he does it, though.

18. What's the definition of a "negative ad" though?
I seem to recall hearing it simply means talking about your opponent rather than yourself.

McCain's pretty much got the market cornered on dirty ads.
