Can we put all of the ACORN comments in one thread? I'd hate to give the Freepers a win
at distracting us from what is important in this election.

When we give prominence to an issue that they dredged up,
they win.

Just sayin'.

2. Kinda of weird how we kinda of do what the Freepers wish.....
meanwhile, we can talk about AIP all day, and the Freepers and the media pretty much ignores it, and it doesn't go anywhere.

Guess we could learn a few things.

4. yeah, because we're just sooo far behind in this election
we really need to take lessons from the freeps. You need to relax and stop trying to control what's posted here. We're doing just fine.

9. That is your opinion......
I happen to have a different one.

Please know that I am relaxed, and respect your suggestion to me as to what I should stop doing.....
I do thank you for your advise, and encourage you to continue to provide it in the foreseable future....just in case at some point you end up correct.

12. I happen to think that when I agree with cali...

We are both right.

I think cali is spot on in this. I'm a little more than tired of DUers 1) worrying about how we might affect Freeperville, 2) making up new rules.

I'm not for deregulation, mind you, but I think there are enough rules and regulations here. The mods don't need our help.

If you are distracted, you might consider "hide thread".

14. That happens to be your choice as to whom you agree with.....
In that, I welcome your voice, and agree to disagree with some of what you said.

6. The ACORN issue is extremely important.
Can you assure me that by ignoring this, people will not be turned away at the polls because of this manufactured flap?

This is going through the courts now. What if ACORN doesn't have the proper support to defend themselves? What if these cases go to Bush appointees?

10. It is not about ignoring it.....
it is about not making it such a prominent issue 25 days out to the election, as it is exactly what the Freepers want, and the reason that it is being hammered at us.

Ask yourself who brought up ACORN first and who has been talking about it quite a bit? That should provide you with the answer as to who this issue favors.

13. There's alot of dirty shit being circulated around right now.
It's not going away. We need to come back fast with the facts. And even as of today, there are many DU-ers still asking about ACORN, and even questioning their actions. Obama can stay on the trail and focus on the economy, but I'm in Ohio and have swing-voting in-laws who are hearing the Freep-version of the story (Acorn/Ayers/Hamas) first then repeating it back to me as the gospel. Obama will lose some footing in the polls by next week. It's good we're talking about it today, so people don't get blindsighted like I did a few days ago.

16. So possibly this thread serves a purpose, as wise DUers have
provided links within this thread to help those needing information on it.
But I am amazed how the Freep's story about anything seem to always get traction,
while any story we unearth gets no traction whatsoever.

Have you told your swing-Voting in-laws about AIP's link to Palin and you concerns about itas though it was gospel, per chance?

15. People WILL be turned away at the polls for every reason the Republicans can find.
They have tried to attack ACORN before and they have LOST.

17. ACORN is used to this..
Edited on Fri Oct-10-08 02:58 PM by stillcool47
they have been targeted by the GOP for years. By law they have to turn in all registrations whether fraudulent or not. It would be nice if they could find who turned in these registrations, but I'm not sure how they could do that. I could go down town and scoop up a bunch, fill them out, and drop them off, and my Democratic Headquarters would by law have to submit them.
