7. "People don't have to be scared of having Obama as a President"
DH is watching MSNBC and just saw that comment by John McCain.

Between "respectful" and this new comment, dh figures somebody had to have threatened McCain mightly to get him to tone down the rhetoric. I sniff a behind the scenes story of massive proportions, such that McCain is publically backing off the "entice violence" rhetoric.

8. The mob boos McCrypt's request that they be respectful and that Obama is a decent person.
"We want to fight, and I want to fight, but we will be respectful," McCain said to boos at first. "I want everyone to be respectful," he then said and people began to clap.

In response to a later question he added, "You can be respectful and point out facts," as he called on his supporters to point out facts to their neighbors but be respectful.

*** UPDATE *** McCain just added, "He is a decent person and a person who you do not have to be scared as president of the United States."

After that, McCain said of himself that he just thinks he'd be a better President of the the United States." Some in the crowd booed his statement and shouted, "No!"

14. This is in response to internal polls. The Angry Mob is hurting
McCain and driving up his negatives. Remember, he is now purely a political animal, and will do whatever he perceives will help him in the polls.

16. Exactly
and it's not even close to a half-hearted attempt IMO. This asshole knew exactly what he was doing, and he wants it somewhere on record that he tried to temper the whole thing just in case something catastrophic happens. The motherfucker can rot in hell.

18. I think he's actually scared. About what his campaign has unleashed.
I really believe Johnny's thinking:
"Holy SHIT! Maybe we need to dial it back a few notches. If somebody blows that one's head off everybody will be looking at me and the broad.
Damn. How did I get here in this place? Fuckin' Rove.
We've put some of these goddam wingnuts over the edge.
Damn damn damn.
We're screwed.
How the hell can I put the genie back in the bottle?
Damn damn damn."
