Halcro finally admits "I was the Blogger on the Grassy Knoll."
Edited on Fri Oct-10-08 05:00 PM by Blue_In_AK
 I've posted here before that Andrew Halcro, Sarah Palin's independent opponent in the 2006 gubernatorial election, was one of the first to draw the connection between Walt Monegan's firing and Trooper Wooten. His blog entry today is pretty funny.

http://www.andrewhalcro.com/the_blogger_on_the_grassy_knoll

After months of hiding from the truth, I'll finally admit it; I was the blogger on the grassy knoll.

I am to blame for the entire Troopergate scandal and the ensuing investigation into if Governor Sarah Palin abused the power of her office by firing former Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan because he wouldn't fire her ex brother in law, State Trooper Mike Wooten.

Me, me, me. The blog stops with me.

I am responsible for Governor Palin's husband Todd's weird obsession with his former brother in law State Trooper Mike Wooten, where he admitted in a deposition this week that he has spent years trying to get Wooten fired.

I am responsible for the "over two dozen phone calls" Governor Palin admitted her staff made to the Department of Public Safety to inquire about the status of her former brother in law.

I am responsible for the recorded phone call where Palin's right hand man Frank Bailey is pressuring another State Trooper that Wooten needs to be fired, even though he hadn't been able to convince anyone else in authority.

"Mike Tibbles (Palin's former Chief of Staff) disagrees with me, Audie Holloway(a State Trooper Lt. Col.) probably disagrees with me and Walt does (Commissioner Walt Monegan)" Bailey said in the recorded phone call released by Governor Palin on August 13.

I totally put him up to it even though he said he got the confidential information he shared in the call from Todd Palin.

Also in that same phone call Bailey said, "She (Palin) really likes Walt a lot, but on this issue she feels like it’s, she doesn’t know why there’s absolutely no action for a year … it’s very troubling to her and the family. I can definitely relay that.”

So according to Bailey, the governor "really" liked Monegan's performance, but just not his performance in responding to her wishes to see Wooten out of a job. This was on February 29, 2008...and then four months later Monegan is fired?

I admit, this is all my handy work.

I'm also responsible for the refusal of state employees to honor valid legislative subpoenas, pressuring a private contractor to deny Wooten's workers compensation claim, the ever changing reasons why Palin fired Walt Monegan, the hasty hiring of an accused sex offender to replace Monegan and more importantly I'm responsible for the fact that Governor Palin knew less about what was going on in her own administration than she knew about what newspapers and magazines she read.

Why admit the truth now?

Because the McCain/Palin campaign has now said publicly it is my fault, and God knows they've always been the sentinels of the truth.

In an Associated Press story released late Thursday evening, the campaign released a 21 page pre-emptive report on their own conclusion of the investigation. And not surprisingly, they've laid the blame at the feet of someone other than themselves.

The AP reported:

The campaign's report instead blames former campaign opponent, Andrew Halcro, who has a blog, of conspiring with Wooten to pin Monegan's dismissal on the family's dispute with Wooten. Three days after Monegan was fired, they say, Wooten told his ex-wife, Palin's sister, that: "You guys are going down. Get ready for the show."

Two days after that confrontation, they say, Halcro and Wooten met at a hotel bar in Anchorage for more than three hours — and that evening, Halcro posted the first accusations on his blog that Monegan had been fired because of a vendetta against Wooten by the Palin family.

"It is tragic that a false story hatched by a blogger after drinks with Trooper Wooten led the legislature to allocate over $100,000 of public money to be spent in what has become a politically driven investigation," the 21-page report concludes.

There are of course a number of problems with the campaigns wild conclusion, the biggest being that it lacks truthfulness and ignores the above actions of Todd Palin and the governor's staff.

Five days after the firing of Walt Monegan I got a call from a source who knew I was working on a blog about why Monegan got fired. My source suggested I talk to a guy by the name of Mike Wooten about his story as it related to Monegan.

Before I spoke to Mike Wooten on the morning of July 16, we had never exchanged a single word.

We spoke for an hour, I took notes and told him before I met with him I wanted to check out his story. I then verified his story by calling a few more sources and agreed to meet with him later that day providing that he bring with him court transcripts and a copy of his personnel record so I could verify his story. This all happened over a ten hour period.

So when the campaign reports a conspiracy with Wooten, and mentions a comment he supposedly made to Palin's sister about "getting ready for the show" three days after Monegan was fired, the fact is that he and I didn't even speak to each other for the first time until days after he supposedly made that comment.

This wasn't a conspiracy, it wasn't coordinated and in fact every thing I wrote in my initial blog has been more than verified and has resulted in even more evidence regarding the Palin's bizarre obsession with trying to get even with Mike Wooten.

The Palin's were trying to get Wooten fired from the Troopers so he couldn't afford to pay child support for his children and would have to forfeit custody and move out of state to seek other employment.

That's why Judge John Suddock warned Sarah's sister in court that the basless complaints they were filing against Wooten were going to "kill the golden goose."

Contrary to what Todd Palin has said, the tragedy doesn't rest on the fact that my blog brought this issue into the public's eye, nor the fact that the legislature appropriated $100,000 to investigate a potential abuse of power.

The real tragedy is the way Todd Palin and the governor have stood by while their surrogates have demonized good people while abandoning the open and transparent government they promised Alaskans.

Demonizing others has become a hallmark of Sarah Palin.

In this case; it's just plain pathetic Palin.

And one more thing; I'm totally responsible for this in depth article in Thursday's New York Times that details the intense pressure put on Monegan by the Palin administration to get rid of Wooten.

2. "Demonizing others has become a hallmark of Sarah Palin."
Sarah in a nutshell. "Demonizing" "others" blends both her inner witchdoctor and her inner racist perfectly.
