I know today's insistance that his followers need not fear Barack is in and of itself unprescedented. ABC said is was probably a concession of the race.

So, what else will Gramps do or say to make it obvious he's just walking it in?

21. Never; it will just get worse. By November it will be full-bore racism.

She was (I believe) a puppy mill mama who ended up losing one of her legs through neglect/mistreatment. Her present owner does speaking engagements and such with her. This was just a photo op... perhaps upon the ASPCA's endorsement of him as Pres:)

editing to say that I think these are the correct details, but is anyone else is more in the know.. feel free to correct me:)

11. The Humane Society
For the first time in their history they have endorsed a Presidential Candidate, and of course it is our guy. They said Obama has a good record on animal rights but of course they were highly motivated because of Palin, as any animal lover should be.

13. Now I should have known that!
Thanks so much for sharing that info:hi: I've also heard that when the Obama family does get a dog, they are going to get one from the pound... that just warms my heart. What a boon that will be for shelter dogs all over the country, don't you think?

18. HSUS = Humane Society of the United States
Edited on Sat Oct-11-08 11:21 PM by MadrasT
The endorsement came from HSLF (which is their lobbying arm, the Humane Society Legislative Fund).
http://hslf.typepad.com/political_animal/2008/09/humane-society.html

ASPCA = American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

These big "animal welfare" groups can seem pretty interchangeable to many people not directly involved (I sure thought so before I became directly involved with animal rescue), but there is a huge difference.

I personally have mixed feelings about all of the big national "animal welfare" groups (I think they are misleading to the public with respect to where their donations are actually put to use and what their actual "missions" are), but in the hierarchy, I feel better about HSUS than ASPCA (which has a lot to do with my own "pet" areas of concern).

Holy run on sentence, Batman.

Anyway, that's my 2 (...er... more like "10") cents. :hi:

And oh, heck, let's see that great picture again:

14. When he concedes during the next debate.
Wouldn't that be great? His opening statement is: "My friends...I've finally come to the realization that I'm a dishonorable man and I've run a horrible campaign. I've been a fuckup all my life and becoming president was the only way I could finally prove to myself that even though I was a disgrace to my dad and grandfather that I was worthy of the family name. But now I know that the country would be much worse off with me in the white house. I've told so many lies that I don't know what's true anymore. My running mate is an empty headed bimbo who makes Cindy look smart and it would be a disaster if something happened to me and she became president. So, in an effort to save what little bit of honor and dignity I have left...I'm conceding this race to a man who will surely go down in history as one of the greatest presidents ever...Barack Obama.

19. He clearly thought he had this race in the bag
I think he's already probably already realized it's over. I don't know if there has been or will be any particular visual/verbal cue that he realizes it's over (I doubt he will formally concede the election until the votes are counted) but I suspect that he sees it slipping away. If he had any (real) honor and/or integrity left (as well as a genuine desire to continue with his career in the Senate under more positive circumstances), he'd at least make an ongoing effort to try and calm down his supporters when they start bloodlusting, stop with his ridiculous smear campaign, most importantly, put his pretty little "pitbull" on a choke chain for the next 20+ days (and if she doesn't like it, then, well, he can remind her that she has plenty of things waiting for her to take care of back in the Alaska Governor's office and at home with her family).
