TIME: A View from the Ground.....VA Rep Party Chairman Jeff Frederick connects Obama to Osama
Edited on Sun Oct-12-08 08:08 AM by maddezmom
With so much at stake, and time running short, Frederick did not feel he had the luxury of subtlety. He climbed atop a folding chair to give 30 campaign volunteers who were about to go canvassing door to door their talking points — for instance, the connection between Barack Obama and Osama bin Laden: "Both have friends that bombed the Pentagon," he said. "That is scary." It is also not exactly true — though that distorted reference to Obama's controversial association with William Ayers, a former 60s radical, was enough to get the volunteers stoked. "And he won't salute the flag," one woman added, repeating another myth about Obama. She was quickly topped by a man who called out, "We don't even know where Senator Obama was really born." Actually, we do; it's Hawaii.

1. Can someone recap this saluting the flag thing?
I've gotten some emails from members of the military about this and frankly I don't know what they are talking about. Can I have a rebuttal please? Is there a myth busters site one can go to for fast responses to refute this shit?

3. Outright craziness is mainstream in the GOP
Lots of Republicans are smart and good people, for the most part. And I respect lots of Republicans I don't and never would agree with, but the element they let in the mainstream of their party is freaking insane. They embrace the crazies so they can win, that's just effed up.

6. 2008: the year the GOP threw their smart and good people under the bus.
The republican party is becoming the party of stupid. George Wills takes offense to the Palin pick? Well, he's an "intellectual." Going to college makes you stupid. The only people worth a damn are "small town" folk.

Don't think! Hannity and Limbaugh will do the thinking so you don't have to!

4. "Both have friends that bombed the Pentagon" - this actually made me chuckle
What a disgraceful time we live in, with idiots like this speaking such blatant hate mongering and nonsense.

We're truly in a new mccarthyism era.

10. We might be overly focusing on their misinformation. They did it with Clinton in the 90s >

it's not surprising to see the same now. As long as we keep the focus on what really is important the economy and healthcare and where the nation needs to go to regain respect. People are more being drawn to Obama on his steadfast adherance to the issues than the distractions.
