Greg Palast and Bobby Kennedy, Jr. want us to STEAL BACK THE VOTE!! Please read...
Greg Palast, investigative journalist for the BBC, and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. have been researching and writing on the stolen elections of 2000 and 2004 now for years. I personally believe that these two men are real American heroes. Palast has been appearing on the Stephanie Miller Show and the Randi Rhodes' Show to warn voters that the theft of Election 2008 is already taking place. As we already know, there are millions of voters across the country--and especially in swing states--being illegally purged from the voting rolls.

What is more, the Republicans responsible for these actions are hiding behind scurrilous attacks on ACORN, accusing members of the organization of registering the homeless and dead people. Sadly of course, the M$M has been aiding and abetting the Republicans' lynch mob mentality crusade against this organization, which primarily helps eligible voters in disadvantaged communities get registered and to the polls. Further, they are accusing Barack Obama in their manufactured outrage against the organization.

But the real story, according to Palast and Kennedy, is that there is major theft happening right now, and they have some key tips for voters. I won't go through all of them here, but I am urging all of you to print out their manual, print off as many copies as you can and give to your friends and family.

Palast and Kennedy are encouraging voters to know their rights, and the pamplet that you can download here: http://www.gregpalast.com/sbyv/ for free will help you and those in your family and community understand their rights.

Here are a few tips, according to Palast and Kennedy:

1. If your state offers EARLY VOTING, go vote NOW!!! Do not wait! Go vote now! That way, if there are any concerns or discrepancies, they can be ironed out before Nov. 4. GO VOTE NOW!!

2. Make sure your Driver's License or state-issued ID is up to date. My birthday was last week, so I had to renew my license. Many communities now have Express DMV service so that people can renew their license quickly AND register to vote at the same time. It took me less than 30 minutes. GO RENEW YOUR LICENSE!!!

3. Take your UPDATED ID and VOTER REGISTRATION CARD with you! If you misplace your registration card, demand a new one from your local Board of Elections. If you don't receive it in time, please a copy of a utility bill or something with your current address AND your ID.

4. DO NOT--I REPEAT--DO NOT VOTE BY MAIL IF YOU CAN HELP IT!! There is no guarantee that they won't throw out ballots that they don't like. Perhaps you forgot to sign the ballot. Perhaps you forgot to make a copy of your ID and include that in your ballot. Perhaps the ID copy is too dark or too light. These people will find any excuse to throw out your valid ballot. DO NOT VOTE BY MAIL!!

5. DO NOT ACCEPT A PROVISIONAL BALLOT!!! One way that the Republicans are attempting to disqualify voters is through bogus provisional ballots. Do not accept them. Vote early if you can and make sure you are at the correct polling place.

6. IF YOU HAVE MOVED BUT ARE IN THE SAME CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT, YOU CAN VOTE!!! Building on the provisional ballot issue, you can vote in the SAME congressional district even if you have moved. But make sure the address on your ID matches the one on your utility bill and/or Voter Registration Card.

7. If you must vote on electronic voting machines and have a cell phone that takes pictures, take your cell phone in the booth with you and take a picture of your vote.

8. If you can, DO NOT VOTE A STRAIGHT PARTY TICKET!!! I will vote for Obama for president, but for Green Party and Independents for down ticket offices. Sadly even in my very BLUE state of Maryland, some ballots that are straight-party tickets are being discarded. I still haven't understood why, but this was reported last week by some newspapers.

Again, Greg and Bobby want you to go here:

http://www.gregpalast.com/sbyv/

Download the document, print off as many as you can, give to your friends, family and community, and make sure they take the document with you/them to the polls. THIS IS NOT CAMPAIGN LITERATURE, so you CAN take it with you.

Once again, go here:

http://www.gregpalast.com/sbyv/

Print, copy, distribute, take to polls!!!

Thanks,
LS71

5. Palast was on Miller and Rhodes and said that the document is free, but if you want to make a
donation, that would be fine, too. It is free and they are encouraging people to make as many copies as possible to hand out to family, friends, and everyone they know.

4. "I'm" not advising anything. Greg and Bobby are suggesting that voters avoid doing so
if possible. I'm aware that in Oregon, that's the only way, so I obviously am not suggesting that Oregonians don't vote.

6. I do not think they are referring to Oregon..
your state is wired to vote by mail. There is a system in place, and as far as I know Oregon has never had a problem with their votes counting. I believe the difference is that like in 2000, in other states many of these ballots are tossed and treated as provisional ballots. I have read where if you vote absentee it is better if you walk your ballot in rather than mail it. It surely is amazing the lengths we have to go to, and the knowledge we need to possess in order to attempt to get our vote to count.

8. A better idea would be to take absentee ballots and drop them off at precincts on voting day.
That way you still have time to fill out your ballot at your convenience, don't have to wait in line on voting day, and don't have to worry about loss of control of your ballot between you and the locked ballot box. And best: paper trail.

Don't know if you can do that in Oregon but it seems like it might be a good system to implement and a good one for Bobby and Greg to recommend.

9. We vote by mail here in WA
In my county we have the choice of mailing or dropping it by the courthouse. I'm taking my family's ballots directly down to the county board of elections.

10. Oregon uses 'Blue Boxes', special ballot boxes placed around town
I know nothing of the integrity of the process though, come to think of it ....

ALL Oregonians of ALL stripes are happy with it .... But that is still not proof of integrity ...

11. "...IF YOU CAN HELP IT!!"
uh, yeah, I think Greg Palast is telling everyone in Oregon not to vote. :eyes:

By the way, when using a pen, the pointy end goes on the paper.

7. Straight-ticket voting anecdote:
One reason not to just push the straight ticket button - even if you do vote for only the candidates of a single party - is that some machines have been known to switch this type of vote to a third party. This actually was found out in one (or more) Indiana counties two years ago. In how many places was it undiscovered, I wonder?
