DOWN TICKET REPUBLICANS... T E R R Y F I E D!!!! (You Won't Believe This)!!!
OHH MY GAWD!

A Quick Back Story: I'm in Omaha, NE. Obama has 3 campaign offices now open in our great city in an effort to steal 1 of Nebraska's 5 electoral votes (NE & ME are the only 2 states to split votes). NE hasn't voted for a Dem for President since the 60's.. we're one of the reddest states in the country.

But, there is an added bonus to the Obama surge in NE. It's the Down-Ticket Races. Lee Terry is the congressman from Omaha's 2nd Congressional district. He's running for his 6th term against Jim Esch - a democrat. Esch came close to beating him in 2006 when he had no money and no name recognition. Now, 2 years later he's much more known, and the DNC is helping his campaign with $$$.

Lee Terry is TERRYFIED.

Can you IMAGINE that in Omaha, NEBRASKA - a REPUBLICAN 5th TERM CONGRESSMAN IS RUNNING AN AD THAT PANDERS TO OBAMA VOTERS? THAT'S HOW SCARED REPUBLICANS IN NEBRASKA ARE RIGHT NOW. HOLY CRAP!!!!

Now CHECK OUT THIS AD:

15. Right.. sorry.. in Omaha.. it's referred to as "stealing" by the MSM..
and everyone pretty much in general. I think it's hysterical... but you're absolutely correct.. they don't belong to ANYONE until 11/04 - and he's working his ass off on trying to EARN and SECURE one EV. :)

2. Wow. That is amazing. Minus voter disenfranchisement and election fraud this
country would be pure, pure blue from one end to the other in about a month -- with only a few patches of purple and red left. With voter disenfranchisement and election fraud there will still be big patches of red -- how much is still to be determined.

Wow.

3. That scumball Dino Rossi in my state has HUGE billboards trying to woo Obama voters.
He's saying.. "Voting Obama? it's Time for a Change in Olympia, too! Vote Dino Rossi!!" Now that dirtbag is as sleazy republican as any of them, and VERY socially conservative, and pro-developer, anti-environment, anti-labor. You name it.. he IS George Bush! But he's been trying to hide as a moderate, though he's fervently anti-choice.

Washington State is in dire need of help, as we're close to losing our Democratic Governor, Christine Gregoire, who endorsed Obama. I had truly HOPED that OBama would come out here for an event with her soon.. though time is running out. Dino Rossi is trying to co-opt Obama, and a visit from Obama would dispell that.. or a visit from Biden, or Michelle, or another high profile Obama person. WAshington State is also not a guarantee for Obama this election, as we're pretty evenly split.

22. Michelle was here a couple of months ago for an event for
Gregoire...

The Rossi ads are despicable..especially the one about Gregoire doing nothing about the sex criminals....the add insinuates that Gregoire is letting rapist on the street just so they can attack children.

This is Rossi he is a real slime-ball and if he gets in he will destroy anyting good that's going on in this state.

26. I am noticing the same, here across the border
In Oregon, our senate race has been a little rough, though we seem to be pulling ahead finnaly. But the R has run adds talkinging about how closely he worked with Obama. I really wish Obama would come and do even a quick TV ad for merkley. Or not even come, but give us a little something to shove in Smiths face.

32. I'm glad Wyden did an ad for Merkley.
I'm so sick of Smith portraying himself as Mr. Moderate (in the Portland media market, at least ... outside of it he's his true rightwing Bush-kissup self).

34. That was heartening
The only good thing about Smith doing his moderate flip is that the R's I know generally hate him more than I do. The rest of the state knows he does his little election year bipartisan crap as well as we do, they just feel trapped because of the voting power of the metro area.

But my dislike for her stems from a single issue, and I'm sure Rossi's worse on every other issue.

28. Washington was one of the few states that have held their own financially.
You may have an unnamed issue with her, but I tell ya.. having lived in other states, she's one of the best governor's I've seen. This state is run extremely well. It's a glaring contrast to other states I've been in.

ANd Rossi? Though he tries to market himself as similar, he's about as right wing scary as.. say.. Romney or Huckabee. He's in bed with the building industry, casinos, and others. Run screaming from that guy. Majorly anti-choice.

Notice that McPain/Failin and the others are TERRIFIED to use the color red in their signs. They know it signified Republican, and they're trying to steal the "change" banner in the only way they can. :eyes:

He makes Lieberman look like a left-wing nut... Terry is about as classic republican as you can get.. pro gun, pro-life, pro-church, anti-gay... ughhggh..

He's exactly 180 degrees from Obama.. but he's seen the writing on the wall.. and he doesn't want to be associated with Bush or McCain anymore, because it's not politically convenient. :puke:

8. I'd like to see large stickers pasted onto their posters-- REPUBLICAN !!
Although I think some in the Obama campaign would tell me they are thinking in post-partisan terms, so my forcing reluctant conservatives to wear their party affiliation clearly is counter productive.

Obama is probably thinking more long term. Perhaps he envisions a Republican party that goes ahead and incorporates some human and environmental needs into its future agenda, instead of pandering to the super rich and handing the poor and middle class some prayers that God will bless them.

Around here, you used to always see "Republican" on politicians' pamphlets and signs, but not anymore. That name is box office poison.

20. Wow..that's crazy. That's really fuckin' crazy.
I'm just so surprised by that. It looks like Obama might win ALL the states now. This is nuts really and truly. I'm really happy Obama has been able to mobilize and create such a coalition that he's ahead.

I mean for Repubs who are trying to keep their seats are trying to get Dems to stick with him, he's just lost his Repub supporters. They won't like that and the Dems aren't so stupid to be fooled.

What I like the most is that Obama runs negative campaigns against McCain, mainly over the issues. McCain is instigating violence through unfounded associations just lies and innuendo. It's crazy shit.

Thanks for this...

Utah seems to be pretty safe for McCain.. he'll get 5 votes there. :) And, the other 4 NE vote are also going to be his.. but, that's OK.. i'll let him take those.

21. Gordon Smith has practically wrapped himself with Obama ...
And has publicly embraced Teddy Kennedy in his ads as well ...

Must be quite endearing for the conservatives in Oregon to watch poor Gordie locked in a french kiss with these two 'socialists' in his forlorn effort to keep his senate seat.

Some bitter medicine indeed ....

31. Fortunately, the strategy doesn't seem to work
Gordon Smith (R(loser-OR) opened his campaign by practically claiming to be Barack's soulmate. It didn't work, so he tried to smear his Democratic opponent (Jeff Merkeley) with some outrageous crap. That didn't work, so he's kinda trying a two-prong hybrid approach of linking himself to Obama-Kennedy after the evil spirit of Rove has taken over their minds. I think he's toast! Hopefully the rest of these desperate republicans will be exposed too.

37. Honestly.. it's about 50% - 50% for Obama..
Up until about 2 weeks ago.. all of the Republican's I work with, and my Republican friends wanted to just talk about the election.. Sarah Palin was such a difference maker, etc.

Then she was on Katie Couric.. and they were surprisingly quiet.. and NONE of them "saw" the interview. Then came the debate, and they were all like - well she didn't do as bad as the Katie Couric Interview... and then I asked "How do you know - I thought you didn't watch it"? :)

I get stared down all of the time in my car with my Obama bumper sticker.. I got flipped off yesterday by a guy in a pickup truck.

Overall.. i'm cautiously optimistic. :)
