I don't care whose signs you have on your own private property, whether Dem or repub or Flying Purple People Eater Party, no one, NO ONE has the right to remove them. Same with bumper stickers. Period.

Because of his job, my husband cannot take a public position on this or any other election, although he privately supports Obama. So, we can't have any signs on our lawn. I'm not under any such restriction, however, so I can have bumperstickers, buttons, etc. But if we were able to have signs on our lawn and someone would remove them, I'd be pissed enough to shove the sign up that person's ass. I don't care who has what sign or sticker on their own private property and/or car, but leave mine the hell alone. That's what democracy is supposed to be all about, in the end, people being free to express themselves regardless of what others think and free from fear of harassment or reprisal.

On edit: Oooops, need to be a bit more careful when reading; I'd thought at first it was taken from private property. If it was beside a busy highway, which assumes it's public property, then it gets a bit more difficult to do anything about it. Yes, they still shouldn't have taken it, but if it's not your own property there's really little you can do.

Get a tube or can of roofing tar- the patching grade is great. Smear it on the frame and back of the sign. Roofing tar is really messy and will adhere to anything that touches it.

Put stakes around the sign, then run a wire around the stakes, then one to the sign itself. Run the other end of the wire to a plastic or metal box, preferably in a visible spot, but not accessible. A sign theif will not know if the wire is for a camera, motion detector or fence charger.

4. Just
Just shoot them. /snark...

There's a live feed of a Obama sign at uStream.

There was guy a couple of years ago that let you turn on/off his Christmas lights on his website.

A good idea would be to put like electric fence type wire on the sign, and if any right wing idiot attempts to steal th sign the web watcher can push the button. :smoke: :dilemma:
