They try to augment and take credit for shit that they were against all those years ago. The way they talk about George Wallace and Segregation, you would think That they were the vanguard for integration and civil rights. Those of us who were around at the time recall how the RWers cheered the hosing of the demonstrators and laughed when the three civil rights workers were killed. They demonstrated against Medicare; again those of us who were around recall Doctor's wives going door to door to ask people, poor people, not to 'socialize' medicine so that older folks could get care.
They speak about legal protest and freedoms, but smiled profusely when the Kent State shootings occurred, and I was on a bus as a kid going to D.C. for a peaceful protest against the Vietnam War and the streets were lined with soldiers with fixed bayonets. they talk about clean water and air and such, but when the EPA was conceived, by Nixon if I recall correctly, it was seen as a terrible betrayal and many said that it was a terrible day for business and industry.
They are all for funding Social Security, but they fought it tooth and nail even when the country was on the brink of revolution in the 1930's. they don't give a damn about anyone who is not connected to them personally or is told by their fearless leaders that that person is worthy of concern: to wit, Terri Schiavo. Thse people could give a damn about a sick person or a family but when the Hannity's and Rush's put out the word, then it's full speed ahead, take no prisoners.
I'm tired of them all.
