Deluded Freeper lists 20 "reasons" why McCain will win

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2104013/posts?page=12#12

You can't make this stuff up.

1) “Polls” that show Obama ahead tell a different story when internals are studied.

2) Hillary and Bill don’t want Obama to win, since she wants to run again in 2012

3) “Hussein” being Obama’s middle name is still news to most people.

4) A picture of Obama dressed as a Muslim (there are at least three) is still worth 1000 words (3000 in this case). Man your email station! Post bills!

5) The PUMAs who know the hows and whys of Hillary getting cheated, will vote Palin, and will pull others. Check out http://www.hillaryclintonforum.net/discussion/showthread.php?t=33711&page=3 and http://democrats-against-obama.org

6) “Bitter ... ”, will vote McCain

7) The Palins ARE America and the conservative base. America and the conservative base will vote accordingly.

8) The NRA has “8 figures” of ads to unload in “swing” states

9) At one point, Obama was only 5 points up in New York! New York!

10) The Democrats were talking about Democratic consultants freaking out over Obama mis-managing his campaign before they settled into poll alteration.

11) The Enemedia is already spreading the meme that if Obama loses, it “is racism”. They see the tea leaves ...

12) The Media was calling the election for Kerry ELECTION MORNING in 2004, and Carter and Reagan polled evenly on election day! Also, http://www.InTrade.com had Kerry as an 80/20 favorite on election morning 2004. SOMEONE is trying to buffalo us!

13) McCain has only started to play the Ayers and ACORN cards. McCain has not yet played the Jeremiah Wright, Tony Rezko, Odinga, ... more at http://www.barackbook.com

14) Plenty of white Democratic voters are unimpressed with Obama, and will not vote for him. Democrats can’t energize their base!

15) Obama has only 60% of the Jewish vote, compared to the 75% Kerry got.

16) The Christian base that re-elected Bush in 2004, knows Sarah is more than a Sunday Christian, and is praying for her.

17) McCain opened 50 offices in California. It’s in play! It should be the bluest of the blue, and it is not.

18) Google “Bradley Effect”. Obama is getting poll votes he’ll never get on election day.

19) Operation Chaos resulted in an overlarge quantity of Democrat registrations that will never ever vote Democratic.

20) Polls are meant by the liberal media, to SHAPE public opinion, not report it.

12. Also, the bullshit about Kerry and Intrade is just, well that, bullshit!
Intrade predicted the election perfectly in 2004! When polls showed Kerry might win Florida, Intrade had it going to Bush. In fact, their predicted electoral college was exactly the same as it was on election night.

the electoral vote. Maybe the just want to get their voting numbers up in California to help with the popular vote. It also may have to do with fund raising.

16. My responses to ALL 20... shooting them ALL down:
1) “Polls” that show Obama ahead tell a different story when internals are studied.

Actually, most of the internals are undercounting the Demographics that are Obama's strongest. They are underestimating the youth turnout and the AA turnout... by large margins.

2) Hillary and Bill don’t want Obama to win, since she wants to run again in 2012

Whether they want them to win or not is immaterial. Their public actions have been favorable to Obama for the most part ... especially Hillary's.

3) “Hussein” being Obama’s middle name is still news to most people.

"Hussein" being Obama's middle name is known to the overwhelming majority of American voters. Also... the percentage of voters that believe Obama is a muslim continues to shrink as more and more people pay attention to the race.

4) A picture of Obama dressed as a Muslim (there are at least three) is still worth 1000 words (3000 in this case). Man your email station! Post bills!

People have already seen them. The people who would be affected by those pictures are already voting for McCain.

5) The PUMAs who know the hows and whys of Hillary getting cheated, will vote Palin, and will pull others. Check out http://www.hillaryclintonforum.net/discussion/showthrea... and http://democrats-against-obama.org

There are VERY few "PUMAs". The number of Hillary supporters voting for McCain is equalled by the number of moderate Republicans that are disgusted by Bush and who will either not vote, vote third party, or vote for Obama.

6) “Bitter ... ”, will vote McCain

"Bitter" already IS voting for McCain. They are accounted for in the polls.

7) The Palins ARE America and the conservative base. America and the conservative base will vote accordingly.

The "conservative base" is small and shrinking. 25-30% of the electorate tops. These people were ALWAYS going to vote for McCain - with or without Palin.

8) The NRA has “8 figures” of ads to unload in “swing” states

The people who could be swayed by NRA ads are ALREADY in McCain's camp.

9) At one point, Obama was only 5 points up in New York! New York!

Obama is up by nearly 20% in New York. "at one point" McCain was ahead in Michigan too... and now he's pulled out of the state. "at one point" is one of the most meaningless terms ever.

10) The Democrats were talking about Democratic consultants freaking out over Obama mis-managing his campaign before they settled into poll alteration.

Obama's campaign is a model for proper campaign management. Books will be written about how well this campaign has been run.

11) The Enemedia is already spreading the meme that if Obama loses, it “is racism”. They see the tea leaves ...

No... if Obama loses, it's theft. Racism is already figured into the polls. The only thing that can beat Obama now is Diebold.

12) The Media was calling the election for Kerry ELECTION MORNING in 2004, and Carter and Reagan polled evenly on election day! Also, http://www.InTrade.com had Kerry as an 80/20 favorite on election morning 2004. SOMEONE is trying to buffalo us!

At no point in the final 3 weeks of the 2004 race was Kerry ahead in any of the tracking polls. Obama has a substantial lead in all of the tracking polls. Obama is outpolling where Kerry was by 8-10 points across the board.

13) McCain has only started to play the Ayers and ACORN cards. McCain has not yet played the Jeremiah Wright, Tony Rezko, Odinga, ... more at http://www.barackbook.com

The "Ayers card" has hurt McCain in the polls...badly. Jeremiah Wright is OLD, TIRED news that the electorate has already accounted for in their poll answers. Rezko has been tried several times, and it doesn't stick. The Odinga thing is false... and even the false story that is being perpetrated is not very damaging.

14) Plenty of white Democratic voters are unimpressed with Obama, and will not vote for him. Democrats can’t energize their base!

Democrats are showing up 20 to 30 points higher than Republicans in the "enthusiasm" factor in polls. The "white Democrats" who won't vote for Obama are already in McCain's corner in the polls.

15) Obama has only 60% of the Jewish vote, compared to the 75% Kerry got.

That's old info. Obama's support in the Jewish community is skyrocketing over the past 3 weeks. Thank you, Sarah Palin and your bible-thumping nuttiness.

16) The Christian base that re-elected Bush in 2004, knows Sarah is more than a Sunday Christian, and is praying for her.

If prayers worked, the GOP wouldn't be in this predicament in the first place.

17) McCain opened 50 offices in California. It’s in play! It should be the bluest of the blue, and it is not.

If McCain opened 50 offices in CA, it is the single-most wasteful campaign spending in electoral history. Obama will win CA by more than 15%.

18) Google “Bradley Effect”. Obama is getting poll votes he’ll never get on election day.

The Bradley Effect is a myth. Final polls in TN in 2006 had Harold Ford Jr down by 8% to Bob Corker. Ford only lost by 3%.... in one of the most racist states in the union. There is no such thing as the "Bradley Effect"... and there hasn't been anything even CLOSE to one in 3 decades. The old racists are dying off. Voters under 50 years old don't "see" race anymore. With each passing year, the percentage of the population that is racist is shrinking considerably.

19) Operation Chaos resulted in an overlarge quantity of Democrat registrations that will never ever vote Democratic.

Only in about 5 or 6 states. And the effect of "Operation Chaos" was negligible at best.

20) Polls are meant by the liberal media, to SHAPE public opinion, not report it.

Scott Rasmussen in a born-again Christian evangelical. He is VERY Republican. John Zogby is a self-admitted Republican. The Fox News poll has Obama up 7 points. Try again.

20. A response to the Intrade point (#12)
Here is Bush's prices on Intrade from early 2003 until the '04 election:

As you can see, at no time did Bush close below 50. It appears that he closed AT 50 in July, around the time of the DNC, but he never fell below it. It is true that during the day on Election Day there were wild fluctuations toward Kerry's favor -- largely due to the exit poll fiasco -- but on a larger time scale, Intrade was completely accurate.

One more datum: On October 12th 2004 -- exactly 4 years ago today -- 49 of the 51 states were correctly predicted by the Intrade markets. At closing the day before Election Day, Intrade was 51 for 51.

28. I love to take these one by one.
1) “Polls” that show Obama ahead tell a different story when internals are studied.

And where are these internals? Supposedly even McCain's internals are telling a grim story for him.

2) Hillary and Bill don’t want Obama to win, since she wants to run again in 2012

Bullshit. Anyone who saw her speak even just today wouldn't believe she's not firmly for him. Besides, what would that have to do with the voters?

3) “Hussein” being Obama’s middle name is still news to most people.

Ha! Yeah, someone living in a cave on an island off Mars.

4) A picture of Obama dressed as a Muslim (there are at least three) is still worth 1000 words (3000 in this case). Man your email station! Post bills!

Post bills? Who still says that? People care FAR more about the fact that their 401Ks and their kids' college funds have tanked and lost thousands of dollars than some old pic of Obama in Indonesia.

5) The PUMAs who know the hows and whys of Hillary getting cheated, will vote Palin, and will pull others. Check out http://www.hillaryclintonforum.net/discussion/showthrea... and http://democrats-against-obama.org

He thinks this teeny tiny group is going to make a difference with the lead Obama has? Truly delusional.

6) “Bitter ... ”, will vote McCain

Not so sure about this. Seems like "Bitter" is pretty firmly for Obama. There's a reason we're bitter, dude.

7) The Palins ARE America and the conservative base. America and the conservative base will vote accordingly.

Yep. Those who would vote for anyone with an R after their name WILL vote for McCain. Unfortunately for this guy there are WAY more people who aren't the base than are.

8) The NRA has “8 figures” of ads to unload in “swing” states

What does 8 figures of ads mean? And again, the NRA is going to appeal to the BASE who is ALREADY VOTING FOR MCCAIN! LOL.

9) At one point, Obama was only 5 points up in New York! New York!

At one point? What a great campaign strategy! At One Point! Yeah, and at one point I was also 22 and thin. What's your point?

10) The Democrats were talking about Democratic consultants freaking out over Obama mis-managing his campaign before they settled into poll alteration.

This doesn't even make any sense.

11) The Enemedia is already spreading the meme that if Obama loses, it “is racism”. They see the tea leaves ...

This proves McCain is going to win how?

12) The Media was calling the election for Kerry ELECTION MORNING in 2004, and Carter and Reagan polled evenly on election day! Also, http://www.InTrade.com had Kerry as an 80/20 favorite on election morning 2004. SOMEONE is trying to buffalo us!

Last time I checked, this was 2008, not 2004. Obama is ahead of where Kerry was at this point in 2004. Uh-oh!

13) McCain has only started to play the Ayers and ACORN cards. McCain has not yet played the Jeremiah Wright, Tony Rezko, Odinga, ... more at http://www.barackbook.com

Yeah, and it's really helped a lot! The more McCain does that, the more he goes down! Keep it up, dude! It's working! Oh and see my answer to #4 for more.

14) Plenty of white Democratic voters are unimpressed with Obama, and will not vote for him. Democrats can’t energize their base!

Oh my GOD, this has to be the most delusional item on this list. The reality is that Dems are more energized this year than they have been in a score of election cycles. Wow, how far out of touch is this guy?

15) Obama has only 60% of the Jewish vote, compared to the 75% Kerry got.

Where's the source for this, or do they not believe in that over there? Did he just make this up? Regardless, I doubt it very seriously.

16) The Christian base that re-elected Bush in 2004, knows Sarah is more than a Sunday Christian, and is praying for her.

Prayers are going to magically help the Worst Presidential Campaign in History? Good luck with that, dude.

17) McCain opened 50 offices in California. It’s in play! It should be the bluest of the blue, and it is not.

This is the exact opposite of reality. States that SHOULD be red are turning pink and light blue. Does this guy just make shit up? McCain didn't open 50 offices in California.

18) Google “Bradley Effect”. Obama is getting poll votes he’ll never get on election day.

Actually this guy needs to see the Princeton Election Consortium website. They have a great analysis of how the Bradley effect mostly disappeared by the early 90s and there's also a reverse form of this which favors Obama (people not willing to say aloud they are voting for him).

19) Operation Chaos resulted in an overlarge quantity of Democrat registrations that will never ever vote Democratic.

What is Operation Chaos?

20) Polls are meant by the liberal media, to SHAPE public opinion, not report it.

No they are meant to report it. The poll that counts is on election day and I have the feeling this guy is going to be crying, guzzling cheap beer and eating Cheetos to drown his sorrows.
