And to me, the whole idea of defeating evil is kind of bizarre. As if one group of people has a copyright on evil!!

To me, people consist of both good and bad (evil). Even if you defeat a race of people that you believe are evil, there will still be evil in the world!

And as Andrew Sullivan said recently.....evil is eternal. You don't defeat it. I'm not as religious as he is but on this one, I think he's right.

Evil is defined as something harmful. Religions create a pain/pleasure fantasy world, exemplified by heaven and hell. Harm, actually, is a simple, absolutely essential part of the Universe... part of evolution. If something hurts you, you build a defense against it, so it can't hurt you again, thus evolution has made you more capable of perpetuating survival.

Obviously, the policy of hunting terrorists abroad is not evolution. If we went into Russia after terrorists, in the same fashion we went into Iraq, it would be suicide. Going into Iraq was a disaster, and everyone knows it has not improved our survival capabilities, and instead, made them worse.
