John McCain, nobody wants your sorry ass in the White House. As far as I'm concerned your a casualty of war, not a hero. Go fishing buddy, but leave the running of this country to someone that can.

1. He didn't WANT to get out of Vietnam
He had a daddy and granddaddy who were admirals who he had to live up to.

You might want to read the article in the new Rolling Stone.
Lotsa insight into this twisted puppy...

2. Excuse me, but while I want Obama in the White House as badly as you do, or perhaps more so,
I don't think blasting a man for his service in the Navy is a real good thing to do. First of all, military service is indeed a respectable path to follow. Implying that McCain is stupid for not getting out of Vietnam is wrong, first of all, consider when McCain got into the Navy, Vietnam was a little nothing of a conflict that we were hardly into, different times, different decisions. Secondly, it is rather crass of you to blast somebody for deciding to serve their country. In many ways, you are, by extension, blasting every single person who either is or has served their country. And yes, surviving a brutal prison camp is rather heroic, we've granted that status to others who've survived the Bataan death march, the German concentration camps, and other such imprisonment.

Blast McCain for his political career, sure, fair game. But even Obama has praised McCain for service to his country and indeed accorded him hero status for being a POW. Why don't you follow Obama's lead rather than providing more fodder for the neo-cons to use, you know, that meme that says liberals and Democrats hate the military, etc. Otherwise you risk turning yourself into a stereotype.

4. And you'll look like an unappreciative, ungrateful, unpatriotic idiot while doing so
In addition, you'll simply confirm the rights' perception of those in the Democratic party and left wing of the political spectrum. Good job at fucking it up for the rest of us:eyes:
