The youth vote could be critical. I was just thinking this morning how to make sure they turn out.

Text messaging. The Obama campaign has millions of cell phone numbers from many of the new young Obama supporters in their system. I suspect they will blast them on the day before the election and on election day to make sure they get their butts to the polls and vote. This is a tool the Kerry campaign did not have available to them. It could have a major impact.

6. Yes... Even If It Looks Like A Landslide Early In The Evening...
when the east coast polls close.

We need to full throttle GOTV all the way through Hawaii and Alaska. No relaxing, no easing up on the throttle. Take NOTHING for granted. EVERY VOTE COUNTS!!!

:hi:

9. Yes, but I suspect they have special text messaging campaign targeted for the younger voters...
who may need a little more prodding to make sure they show.

15. Remember than gigantic list Obama's got stored in a database somewhere?
He'll be using it election day. "Get out and vote--and tell your friends to vote too."

3. try tshirts and free pizza. kids will do anything for shirts and pizza
why do you think that Obama has been collecting cell numbers for the past several months? He used the VP selection to get millions of cell numbers. He has been texting reminders out on a weekly basis, but I predict a big bump in the number of messages sent, as well as a reply to text back after voting, so that he can keep track of people voting who have not been polled by the landline based poll companies like Zogby and Gallup.

11. No, if they gave their cell numbers to the campaign, they are
supporters.

Giving someone a ride to the polls would be buying a vote if that were the case.

14. I meant the free pizza and t-shirts. I think that violates election regulations.

4. I highly suspect..
that is exactly what they got all of those cell phone numbers for as he was about to announce his VP pick. It would make sense for them to utilize all of those cell phone numbers (mine included) that they acquired in late August.

8. I am one of those people and the Obama camp...
Has texted me several times, to either watch the debates or go and volunteer. We have had folks volunteering for Obama across campus. I literally can not go anywhere without being asked by one of the volunteers if I have registered to vote.

This time it is different. :)

12. At the risk of sounding "concerned", I've worried about the youth vote from the beginning.
They have the least percentage of voter turnout. I hope that there is enough excitement with this election that they will turn out in droves. I've reminded my grandchildren and any other young people I know that it's important to go to the polls and vote.

17. I suspect you are correct. We are all hyped about being part of this historic election but...
the Obama campaign is not going take any chances. Tell your daughter and friends to expect to be message blasted on election day!
