Reform the healthcare system before I die
My asthma has got worse all of a sudden and I need to see a good pulmonary specialist.

The wait is two months...

This thing is a ticking time bomb, I have got my shots (allergy and flu) but need to see someone to take care of it properly, and it's insane to call everywhere and be told 2 months at the minimum, being put on the waiting list in case someone cancels.

All the hospitals can do is put you on a nebulizer and release you later with a free inhaler.

And then I know I will have to fight for the bills to be paid, will have to answer calls from the insurance, to tell them that yes I had asthma before, so they can screw me over the bills.

WTF is wrong, people?

I am also supposed to avoid stress, but these Rethugs are pissing me off insane.

And I know some are worse off than me, dying of cancer or of a perfectly treatable disease, but... too expansive to take care of.

I thought these guys were the compassionate conservatives?

1. Are you insured?
If so, does it really take that long to get an apt with a pulmonologist? Sounds like you need a pulmonary function test. Do you use Advair?

3. PFT at my hospital is $750
advair almost $200, combivent, singulair and others often prescribed in tandem run this tab up BIG TIME.

14. Proventil and Singulair
Singulair sucks, it prevents you from sleeping, and gives you some bizarre moods but it does the trick. Advair did not work for me and is costly. It did not do the trick like Albuterol Sulfate.

Yes, it is two months in Arizona for an appointment but I am lucky: I got a call and someone dropped out for Thursday.

It's also the cost of these drugs which bothers me. It should never cost that much, even by factoring the R&D cost and the CEO's golden parachute.

My wife and I are talking about visiting Mexico for our meds: even with the insurance and the cost of driving, the copay is such that we would save money and afford a nice Mexican week-end.

Again, some people have worse conditions than me.

Obama's mother fighting with her insurance company from her hospital bed, and that independent douche asking "what is affordable healthcare?"

9. Yes, but there is much worse
It is not really a disease, it is a condition, they don't know the reason why, they cannot cure it, they can treat it.

There are people that are much worse than me, believe me, but people do die of asthma attacks.

4. Two Words: MEDICAL TOURISM

Look into it. Seriously. Google is your friend here - and COULD save your life.

Even doctors in Mexico will do what needs to be done for thousands less.

There are world-class hospitals in India, Thailand, etc. that can help you for less than a 1/4th what you'd pay here - plus you get a free trip!

No, I'm not kidding.

Edit To Add: They've been outsourcing our jobs and moving our factories overseas - here's our chance to use the "globalization" to OUR advantage.

15. I took it this way
Irony does not always transcend in an email or on a Web forum.
