We can get back, but the Democratic 527's have to pull out all of the stops and go supernegative on Bush's strongest point, 9/11.

It's time for the truth on the subject. Bush presided over the single biggest military and intelligence deabcle in history, and he needs to be held accountable now.

In the meantime, millions of new fired-up voters are just waiting to cast their first vote. I just hope this kinda stuff doesn't get to THEM. That worries me more.

In fact, I am upbeat.

A poll even shows that the first two days of the GOP Hatefest failed to give Bush the lead.

Instead, Kerry is winning - by more than the margin of error!

21. Just pissed
There is no such thing, at this date, of the world’s history, in America, as an independent press...The business of the journalist is to destroy truth; to lie outright; to pervert; to vilify; to fawn at the feet of Mannon, and to sell his country and his race for his daily bread. You know it and I know it and what folly is this toasting an independent press? We are the tools and vassals for rich men behind the scenes. We are jumping jacks, they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possiblilities and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes.

22. No - my reasons for my confidence in Kerry are more than poll numbers.
Frankly, Kerry could be trailing by 30 points now as long as he is a single vote ahead on November 2. I believe that Kerry knows what he is up against between now and then, and that he has a plan for dealing with it. He surely realizes what is at stake in this election, and that he is the only person in the position to do something about it.

24. NOOO...
..I've seen the Psyops/Karl Rove operated media do this time and time and time again.

I know their MO. I'm not buying it. Not swallowing their glass of piss.

Polls are useless when they come from the media, gallup (all of whom are in cahoots with Repigs). It's nice to see Kerry ahead, but that, also, is meaningless - 'causes apathy of a different flavour. It's all a manipulation.

Zogby is the ONLY poll I even remotely sort of trust. That's the only one I look to for trends.

I'm amused, and simultaneously disgusted with all the whining and hysterics here. It only feeds their machine and it will become part of a self-fulfulling prophesy if we don't cut it out - take a deep breath and focus. We're just feeding them ammo. Write letters to your local paper, renew your ACLU subscription. Send $ to the DNC or MoveON. DO SOMETHING POSITIVE. SAY something positive to and about Kerry - or do you think the man all of us here would vote for for President has nothing positive about him we can talk about?

If so, we got bigger problems and we may as well just pack it in right now. I am NOT willing to do that.

Kerry is out there KICKING ASS and taking names. Has anyone noticed? why aren't we talking about that? Send e-mails, post the press releases far and wide!! Spread the word!

Jeeeeeze...

29. Not depressed or freaking -- things have only just begun.
If the polls give the repukes false belief that they are ahead, then they are doing us a service. It means the evil admin won't do anything vile to get the upper hand, they will not panic and pull out a tragedy from their bag of tricks.

Nothing, nothing at all should make us give up, the polls should just make us more determined.

At best, I am just tired of the arm chair quarterbacks bickering about how the kerry campaign doesn't know what it is doing.

WE CANNOT leave this election up to the campaign alone, we have a responsibility to get out and canvass, get the truth out and get the votes.

I say quit whining and get to work! This is OUR election to lose, we are responsible, we most act and we must work and work hard until November 2, 2004.

My sky isn't falling - my determination and resolve are strong.

A friend of mine's 6 year old was watching the weed that would be king's speech, when he was going on and on with the lies, she looked at her dad and said, "but daddy, he is lying. God won't like that, he won't win." That was a 6 year old, there are others that heard him and know he is lying and will not vote for him.

34. Frightened, mostly.
..and not because the right wing has been taken over by lying thugs. I've known that for sometime, and it just makes me angry. What frightens me is that we no longer have a fourth estate in this country. (Remember, the People's Watchdog?) We have infotainment hosts who are very pleasant and pretty, and dare not ask difficult questions for fear of losing their very nice jobs.
There's much chatter here about how Kerry is handling his campaign, but I believe that we are unrealistic if we expect that he can shoot down every lying attack. If he spends an enormous amount of energy debunking Mssrs French, Thurlow, O'Neill and all, we will start complaining that he's not dealing with the issues, and rightly so. Vetting smears is the job of the press corps, and we no longer have one. I believe that a majority of Americans, IF EQUIPPED WITH ALL THE INFORMATION, will choose Kerry. But corporate power (media and other), right wing ideologues and religious bigots intend to keep most of us ignorant and afraid. Didja notice that W said in his speech the other night that "Government" can be a good thing, when it's on "our" side? It's called Fascism, and they're one Supreme Court Justice away from making it permanent.

Having been through this too many times before, it seems like once again the Democratc Milquetoast Mold is going to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Kerry had everything going for him and he blew it. He is a much better man than Bush, and he let those creeps beat him up. And his campaign has refused to harness the huge amount of energy and passion on our side. Instead he is letting the "same old, same old" mentality of tepid centrism run his campaign in an election where the issues are starker then ever.

We need a big dose of Dean style Progressive Populism with a positive tone to fight the GOP's Fascist Populism.

39. I am not freaking out. I am realistically aware that we are the underdog.
There is no shoe-in for us, and there never was.

Welcome to the real world, where its more likely that we'll lose than that we'll win. Now its time to get to work.

Just because I'm aware - and always have been - that its very likely Bush will lie, cheat, hate and steal his way back into power doesn't mean I'm not committed to trying to go against the odds.

But what I don't know is a bunch of mindless, brainless, meaningless positive slogan ism that ignores the seriousness of the situation. Not meaning to name you directly with that, cause I don't think that applies , but generally speaking.

The media polls mean little- for a ton of reasons- though many people will freak out over them, despite that fact.

Mostly I think that we've been seeing validation by very credible sources like Susan Estrich and Bob Sommersby, to name a few, of what some posters have been warning about since before the convention when the Kerry camp halted so called Bush bashing and 'took the high road.' That approach is a proven loser- and this election is too important to lose.

Estrich goes so far as to intimate that "many of my Democrat friends have decided to stop talking to the campaign, and start putting money together independently."

No sense in talking to a stubborn, inflexible top down organization, they figure- which is worrisome and brings back bad memories.

61. I'm wishing the post RNC rally
had been better planned. Kerry was using note crads, got the baseball gamne score wrong and worst of all failed to get coverage. Stations tuning out conveyed "this isn't that important."

A five minute speech with well focused words would have been better. I still don't understant the "This is a wakeup call." means. He said it and then moved on to other issues.

Flame me if you must, but Kerry can do better -- he must. To break tradition and hold a rally means we have to nail the opportunity and make it clear to those watching on TV why tradition was set aside.

62. Not freaking out but I am in a state of anxiety.
I'm still confident that Kerry will win but I am extremely angry at the Republicans and their sleezy tactics. More frustrating is that they seem to be getting away with it.

Their media mouthpieces are aiding and abetting these thugs. I guess it's because the media is so "liberal."

Politics seems to be a lot dirtier since the right-wing tried to take down President Clinton. They know they can get away with it so now they're embolden.

Somebody needs to step on them -- HARD.

They will stop at nothing to win this election so we need to be tough and focused on helping Kerry/Edwards prevail against these neanderthal Republicans.

64. Received settlement agreement from my soon to be ex-pug
husband - cried my eyes out - called him - bascically said he never loved me - only sent me beautiful loving cards because he knew I was depressed about not having a job.

I then went to my local candidates' house and did door-to-door. Then I came home and cried my eyes out again.

Can anyone top that?

65. I opened a campaign office today
A man asked for a Kerry sticker. Said he was a Republican but was fed up with the way things were going. It was a good sign; our first visitor!

I'm ready and raring to fight for this election. Not the least bit depressed.
